🇺🇸 A Proud Day at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cumberland County 🇺🇸
Several months ago, one of our young Club members asked me a simple question:
“Mr. Carlos, why don’t we have a flagpole?”
It was a good question, and one I didn’t have a good answer for.
So, I put out a public plea asking for help. It didn’t take long for two members of our Club family to step forward. One of our very own Board Members, Carolyn Kaspar, and her husband, Adam, proudly committed the funds needed to get this special project started.
Today, that young member’s question has become a reality.
Our landscaping may not be finished. Our building is still under construction. There is still plenty of work ahead of us. But on this Patriot Day, September 11th, I could not be prouder to say that the American Flag is now flying proudly over the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cumberland County. 🇺🇸
There could not be a more meaningful day to see it raised.
For our young people, this flag is more than something flying outside their Club. It is an opportunity to teach them about service, sacrifice, freedom, citizenship, and the importance of remembering those who came before us.
To Carolyn and Adam Kaspar, thank you for hearing the request of one of our members and turning it into something that generations of Club kids will see when they walk through our doors.
On behalf of myself, Carlos Mercado, CEO, our Board of Directors, our staff, and most importantly, our members, we cannot thank you enough for your generosity and commitment to our Club.
Today, we proudly raise the Stars and Stripes.
May it always remind our young people that freedom is never free, service matters, and we must never forget. 🇺🇸
God Bless America. Never Forget. 9/11/2001.
