Let's spread the word!!!!🚨🚨🚨

We are compelled to reiterate the proper usage of our collection trailers, designed exclusively for aluminum beverage cans, due to the increasing instances of misuse. Regrettably, this has become a persistent issue. We would like to reemphasize that trash and other aluminum items are not accepted, and any non-compliant materials found in the trailers will result in disposal costs borne by the Burn Children's Fund. Recently, one of our trailers was rejected at the recycling center due to the presence of human waste. This raises significant health concerns. Consequently, the trailer must undergo thorough cleaning, and the non-compliant items must be disposed of. Our collection trailers aim to support burn victims, but contamination compromises this effort. Furthermore, hazardous items can jeopardize the entire load.

The tigers are on the prowl. Mount Pleasant has entered the competition and is attempting to claim the trophy from Kannapolis in this year's battle for the cans. Over the past few weeks, this trailer has been prepared and was delivered today, currently situated in the field at Mount Pleasant Middle School. The yellow paint was donated to the school, enabling the art department to add the finishing touches. Tigers helping burn victims.

🔥♻️ The Cabarrus County Firefighters Burned Children's Fund and the Firefighter’s Burned Children Fund - Kannapolis Chapter teamed up for a friendly competition this school year!

A can collection trailer was placed at both Concord High School Spiders and A.L. Brown High School to see which school could collect the most cans throughout the year. At the end of the school year, the cans were weighed and tallied — and we have a winner! 🏆

🎉 Congratulations to A.L. Brown High School for winning the 2024–2025 Can Collection Challenge! They will receive a trophy to display proudly until next school year when the competition returns — and we’ll see who takes home the trophy in June 2026!

This award was presented during our State Firefighters Burned Children’s Fund meeting held yesterday at Cabarrus County EMS Headquarters. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped make a difference for burn survivors in our community. 💛

Due to increased fire risk, the N.C. Forest Service has issued a ban on all open burning and has canceled all burning permits statewide effective 8 a.m. Friday, March 21 until further notice.

Under North Carolina law, the ban prohibits all open burning in the affected counties, regardless of whether a permit was previously issued. The issuance of any new permits has also been suspended until the ban is lifted. Anyone violating the burn ban faces a $100 fine plus $183 court costs. Any person responsible for setting a fire may be liable for any expenses related to extinguishing the fire.

The burn ban does not apply to fires started within 100 feet of an occupied dwelling. The local fire marshal has authority to issue a burn ban within that 100 feet.
