Our first bike ride was a success!

When this group was formed, one of our main goals was to find simple, joyful ways to build a sustainable community. What better way to do that than a casual cruise, a little local exploring, and a spot to connect afterward?

We took our time along the way to admire the pocket prairie on the Prairie Path and check out some local pollinators, eventually winding up at our destination ready to unwind. With such a fantastic turnout, the afternoon was filled with great food, refreshing drinks, non-stop chatting, and so much laughter.

Jeremy had such a blast chatting with the local Cub Scout Troops yesterday!

He covered everything from the 5 R’s to the importance of pollinators, gardening, and water conservation. He even talked about the benefits of biking and walking instead of driving! While he simplified the concepts for the kindergarteners, the takeaway remains the same: when we intentionally educate and empower our youth, we inspire everyone to be more mindful of their impact on the planet.

Think sustainability is just about solar panels? Take a look at the ground! The Villa Park Parks & Recreation Center and Villa Park Police Department are sporting pervious parking lots—a hidden hero of green infrastructure.

With all the rain we've been seeing, traditional asphalt sends oily runoff straight into our drains. These porous lots work like a sponge, filtering rainwater back into the earth to prevent flooding and recharge our groundwater.

Feeling inspired? If your driveway has been a "lake" lately, consider swapping it for permeable pavers. It’s a game-changer for your property and our local ecosystem!

Keeping our community clean is a team effort. Next time you go for a stroll or head to a game, grab five pieces of litter along the way. To keep Villa Park beautiful, we have to refuse to create waste and step up to remove what's already there.

We’re meeting at the Ruggard Gazebo on May 23 at 7 PM for a cruise along the Prairie Path. We’ll be pedaling toward Phase III Brewing for some post-ride refreshments, with a few small acts of green along the way. Good vibes and green living—don’t miss out!

Get ready to give your items a second life! We're looking forward to the Repair Fair at the library. It's a great opportunity to fix what's broken, learn new skills, and keep usable goods out of the landfill. See you there!

Do you have a broken item that can be fixed? Bring it to our Repair Fair on May 9th!
The Repair Fair is an opportunity to bring your broken items and get them repaired. We'll have vendors who can fix clothes, small appliances, jewelry, and more! We will also have kitchen knife and gardening shears sharpening available.

Our first-ever Repair Fair will be Saturday, May 9th, 11am-3pm. While we cannot guarantee that our talented vendors can fix everything, we can promise that you will have a great time. Vendors are allowed to ask for donations or payment. Please bring no more than three items to repair to this event.
