🚨Coyote Awareness - Please Protect Your Pets🚨

Recent coyote attacks at Pimmit Run have raised serious concerns among local pet owners. A small dog was tragically killed, and two other dogs were reportedly attacked just one day earlier.

Only three weeks ago, a large yellow Labrador Retriever survived a serious coyote attack. The photographs of his injuries are a heartbreaking reminder that even big dogs are not safe from coyote attacks.

During a coyote awareness event at Pimmit, I heard people say, “My dog is big.” Unfortunately, size does not guarantee safety. Coyotes may hunt or confront other animals in groups, and several coyotes can pose a serious threat even to a large dog.

Coyotes are beautiful wild animals that deserve to share our environment. We can coexist with them while taking precautions to protect our pets.

Please keep your dogs leashed, stay alert, and respect wildlife and its habitat. Never assume your dog is safe simply because it is big.

Awareness can save lives. ❤️🐾

❤️ Meet Toto. A little soul who deserves a second chance. 🐾

A few weeks ago, Toto was found alone outside a family’s home. Her picture was shared on social media and with the local shelter, but no one came forward to claim her. Through a family we had previously helped, she eventually found her way to our rescue.

We named her Toto because she reminded us of the little dog from The Wizard of Oz. At an estimated 9–11 years old, she is incredibly sweet, gentle, and loving.

Yesterday, we took her to the vet. Bloodwork, urine tests, X-rays, and an ultrasound were performed after masses were found on her body. We are now waiting for answers and hoping for the best.

It breaks our hearts to think of a senior dog ending up alone on the street. We may never know her story, but we can make sure her next chapter is filled with love.

Today, we choose to focus on the good people who stopped to help her and the kindness that brought her to us.

Toto is safe now. She is loved, and her story is not over. ❤️🐶

Please keep this precious girl in your thoughts as we await her results.

There is something truly meaningful about seeing people come together for a common cause.

We have always believed that collaboration is essential to creating change. What makes these experiences especially rewarding is meeting people who are willing to help without expecting anything in return, treating one another with kindness and respect, and putting the well-being of animals first.

We became involved in the search for a lost dog, and unfortunately, the outcome was not the happy ending we had all hoped for. Despite the heartbreak, witnessing the dedication of this rescue community—rescuers, fosters, and adopters working tirelessly to help animals—has been deeply moving.

Please consider supporting and the important work they do for animals. Organizations like this need community support to continue their efforts and give more animals a chance at a better life.

We will continue building bridges between communities, supporting those who lead with compassion, and working alongside everyone who believes that kindness and respect can bring people together for a greater purpose.

Because saving animals is not the work of one person or one organization. It takes a community, a shared commitment, and the willingness to show up for those who need us most.

A heartfelt thank you to Peggy James, the Oktoberfest team and the Town of Vienna for bringing our community together for such a wonderful celebration.

And a special thank-you to Lydia Russo and the Vienna Foodies team, who are always supporting local people, small businesses and community efforts. We truly appreciate everything you do for Vienna.

Of course, our four-legged visitors were some of the biggest stars of the day! Some came for the tennis balls, some for the attention, and a few seemed determined to find out whether they could steal a hot dog or two! We can’t blame them — the Colombian Mutt and Chili Hound were a hit.

We’re sharing a photo of two of our beautiful visitors who stopped by to say hello.

Barkin’ Buns was created to help raise funds for our rescue and support other organizations helping animals and our community.

If you live in Vienna or the surrounding area and care about animals and your community, we invite you to join our Facebook group, People & Pets Together of Vienna.

This is your local place to connect with neighbors, share information, ask for help, offer help, report and search for lost pets, help reunite animals with their families, support local small businesses, and discover ways to help people and animals in our community.

Whether you rescue, foster, volunteer, have a lost pet, need a little help, or simply want to be part of a community that cares, we would love to have you with us.

Join People & Pets Together of Vienna and help us build a stronger, kinder community — one person and one pet at a time.

And to our canine guests: thanks for stopping by. We’re still watching the hot dogs!

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow, Barkin’ Buns will be at Oktoberfest serving Colombian hot dogs and what we think is the best chili dog in town! 🌭

But this time, the hot dogs are about more than just good food.

We’re proud to support People & Pets Together Inc., a wonderful organization that helps families keep their pets, supports other nonprofits with trapping and rescue efforts, and steps in when animals need help the most.

One of the dogs currently in their care has a tumor and needs surgery. Like so many rescue organizations know all too well, veterinary care is expensive, and these pups depend on people who are willing to help. ❤️🐾

So come out tomorrow, enjoy Oktoberfest, grab a hot dog (or two!), and help us raise a little money for dogs who really need it.

Good food. Good people. A great cause. And the best b**r in your hand. 🍻🌭🐶

🚨 LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE A REFLECTIVE COLLAR CAN MAKE.

When a pet is lost in the woods at night, every little advantage matters.

We always recommend a GPS collar as an added layer of protection. But at the very least, consider a reflective collar.

During a thermal drone search, a pet can blend into thick woods, brush, and darkness. When our drone spotlights hit a reflective collar, that flash can help make the pet stand out.

GPS collar. Microchip. ID tag. Reflective collar.

Small precautions now can make a BIG difference if your pet ever goes missing. ❤️🐾
