Just a reminder that our May meeting will be Saturday 5/16 at 2pm at Vienna Aquarium of Leesburg. Be sure to come out and talk some koi and koi ponds with us and see what Chris has to offer at Vienna Aquarium! He always has a nice selection koi and koi pond supplies to choose from.

So Doug, Thai and myself did a koi rescue over the weekend. Now we've done dozens of koi rescues and many of them for pond construction issues such as collapsed walls, torn liners, cracked pipes but this was a first... The owners said the liner was failing so I figured it was a really old pond (I mean a standard Firestone EPDM is good for at least 25 years). Imagine my surprise when they said this liner was purchased from Amazon 3 years ago (2023) for almost $1000. Crazy right? Probably best to get a liner from any of the local koi stores instead of Amazon.

Sometimes we get called to do koi rescues. This little pond is due to be demolished over the winter so it was now or never. Would you believe we pulled 34 koi out of that pond? They were all under that millstone waterfall feature so we had to remove all that rock to get to them. Yes I did eventually end up standing in the water instead of on stones to get them all out of there lol.
