Crossroads Home Educated Children (CHEC, Inc.) is a Christian, volunteer, incorporated non-profit 501c3 organization committed to connecting home school families in Victoria and surrounding areas. Per CHEC Bylaws, all CHEC members must be currently homeschooling one or more children as parent or legal guardian, and reside in the state of Texas. Members are not required to sign CHEC's Statement of
Faith, but CHEC Board Members are required to do so. With the help of member volunteers, CHEC provides opportunities for fellowship, socialization, support and informational exchange among home schooling families. We exchange curriculum and resource ideas with the understanding that children differ in response to methods of learning and respond uniquely to various forms of educational material. We encourage the partnering of new home school families with veteran home school families who are able to assist with various resources. The Crossroads area is blessed with many wonderful opportunities for homeschool families. Please note that CHEC is not a school, and is not affiliated with any school, or cooperative learning organization. Additionally, no sports group or sports team is under the umbrella of CHEC. Currently, the CHEC Yearbook is the only subordinate organization of CHEC, Inc., as reported annually to the IRS. is a non-partisan organization, and not affiliated with a particular political party. As an organization, CHEC does not endorse specific political candidates running for public office. CHEC Articles of incorporation, as submitted to the IRS for non-profit status, state (excerpt):
ARTICLE FOUR
No substantial part of the activities of the corporation shall be the carrying on of propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence legislation, and the corporation shall not participate in, or intervene (including the publishing or distribution of statements) any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office.
