What looks small to us can be dangerous to wildlife. Cigarette butts can end up in the habitats animals depend on, and plastic litter can be mistaken for food.

Let’s keep Texas parks, trails, and waters safer for the creatures that call them home.

Rain doesn’t leave litter where it lands. Rain can carry a cigarette butt from a Texas street or sidewalk into a storm drain and toward a local waterway. Keeping it off the ground protects the places downstream.

Plastic can hide in plain sight. Cigarette filters may look like cotton, but they’re made of plastic fibers that can persist in the environment. Fully extinguish used ci******es and place them in a proper receptacle.

Cigarette butts are a worldwide litter problem—and a Texas one. In TxDOT’s 2023 survey, they made up 29.2% of the micro-litter counted along Texas roadways, more than any other type. A cigarette butt is still litter, even when it’s easy to overlook. Put it where it belongs.

More and more people are learning that milk cartons don't belong in the recycling cart. But do you know WHY?

Did you know not all milk containers can be recycled?

♻️ Plastic milk jugs = YES! Empty and rinse your plastic milk jugs, then place them in your recycling cart.
🚫 Milk cartons = NO! Milk cartons are made of layers of paper and non-recyclable plastic.

Not sure if an item can be recycled? The Waste Wizard makes it easy to find the right way to dispose of common household items.
When in doubt, check www.mywastewizard.com before you toss it out! 🧙

KVB is thrilled to celebrate our October beautification award winner, Citi Cash Pest & Termite, LLC! 🎊 🙌

Being the 3rd generation to run this local family business is a point of pride for Clint and Katy Ramsey, who ensure that all of their businesses located on the property, including Godfather Graphics and Texas Dek Skin, always look their best. The Ramseys have more improvements planned for the future and can't wait to see what they do next!

Congratulations to Citi Cash Pest and Termite, and thank you for keeping Victoria beautiful!

KVB loves partnering with The Texas Zoo! 🐻 🦉 🐊

The butterfly garden that we restored in 2021 needed some TLC, so we have been working to whip it back into shape with additional native plants and a fresh layer of compost. 🦋 🐞 🐛 🐝 🌱

Did we PLAN our visit to coincide with the bear feeding? We'll never tell! 😉

You know who truly works to Keep Victoria Beautiful? THIS CREW - our Community Appearance team!

Among other duties, they are tasked with the design and maintenance of those gorgeous flowerbeds you see around town at the city's entry points as well as along Zac Lentz Parkway.

It takes a lot of work to keep everything healthy and thriving, and we appreciate them so much!

Working hard, even in the heat! 💪

A big thank you to our Environmental Services Community Appearance Division and all of the City workers who work outdoors to keep Victoria looking its best. From maintaining public spaces to caring for our landscaping, their hard work makes a difference in our community!

The Community Appearance Division is proud to use native plants in the City’s public flowerbeds. Native plants are well adapted to our local climate and can be a great choice for conserving water and supporting local wildlife. 🌱🦋

And remember, when you’re working or spending time outside in the Texas heat:
💧Drink plenty of water
🧢Wear lightweight, breathable clothing and a hat
☁️Take breaks in the shade or an air-conditioned space
☀️Avoid strenuous activities during the hottest part of the day
👁️Watch for signs of heat exhaustion
