This past Saturday, March 14, 2026, Vevay Gamma Chi was honored to award this year's Switzerland Co Woman of the Year to Billie Pierce of Billie’s Painting with Purpose. Billie has shared her personal tragedy as a testimony to what God can do in your life, the purpose He gives. Billie creates beautiful paintings and lists them for auction. The money raised from the sale of the paintings is matched by her BFF's (Billie's Fabulous Friends) and 100% goes to the charity of the buyer's choice. In 2025, almost $21,000 was donated to the community's various charities! Billie is so very deserving of being recognized for all she has done and continues to do to help and give back to the place she calls home now. I encourage you to find out more on her page 👆🏼. Vevay Gamma Chi Chapter installed new officers for the 2025-2027 biennium at the June meeting. Incoming officers from L-R are:

Lainey Schaefer - Vice President. Lainey replaces Kayla Conway who held the office from 2018-2025.

Patti Kappes - Treasurer. Patti replaces Michelle Self who served as the Treasurer from 2018-2025

Valerie Smith - Recording Secretary. Valerie has held this position since 2023.

Carrie Reed - President. Carrie replaces Joanne Springer who served as President from 2017-2025.

Maggie Barnes - Corresponding Secretary. Maggie replaces Lainey Schaefer who held the office from 2021-2025.

Please join me in wishing these new officers much success during their term. We are excited to see all the ways they will guide us in community service and the advancement of Tri Kappa.

Vevay Gamma Chi Chapter was honored to present scholarships to these seniors at awards day May 27th. Kaydence Denson as the Top Female and Zach Sidell as the Top Male for the class of 2025. Cooper Todd received the Evelyn Craig Memorial Scholarship and Klayre Smith received the Little Swiss Polka scholarship. A big thank you to our members Valerie Chambers Smith and Carrie Barwick for presenting the awards.

On Wednesday, May 7th, Vevay Gamma Chi Chapter awarded their Switzerland Co Woman of the Year award to Martha Bladen. This was a total surprise to Martha that included several people who work closely with her and even her family members keeping the secret. Tri Kappa members provided the food and Martha provided the location unknowingly. The weather was beautiful and everyone enjoyed coming together to honor this extraordinary woman whose many talents have been instrumental in preserving our heritage and bringing them to light for all to see. Martha has worked tirelessly to educate others on the values of our history and her dedication to Switzerland Co deserves to be recognized. Congratulations again to Martha Bladen for being named Tri Kappa's Switzerland Co Woman of the Year 2025. 👏🏼

April recap.
Approximately 600 ladies from across the state gathered in Ft. Wayne at the Grand Wayne Convention Center for Tri Kappa's 66th State Convention. Each Tri Kappa chapter is represented. Vevay Gamma Chi's attendees were President Joanne Springer, Treasurer Michelle Self and Member Carrie Barwick. During the 3 day event, the collective good that Tri Kappa's do in their communities is highlighted. Most notably, the Riley Cheer Guild at Riley's Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. October 7, 2024 marked the 100th anniversary of Riley Children’s Health and the opening of Riley Hospital for Children. Tri Kappa’s generous giving over this first century supporting the Riley Children’s Foundation, qualified us to be inducted as part of the first class of honorees into the Noble Society.

Named for Riley’s first patient, Mark Noble from Decatur, Indiana, this prestigious new society pays tribute to individuals and organizations that have made transformative investments of $1 million or more in Riley.

The inaugural celebration event was held on October 9, 2024, at the Indiana Historical Society in Indianapolis. The award was presented again at convention for all to see and to hear what an impact Tri Kappa has made to this program. We are only able to do good things with the community's support and Vevay Gamma Chi thanks you, our community for your support over the years.
