We want to extend our deepest condolences to everyone who has been affected by any form of su***de loss. Whether your loss is recent or years ago, your pain matters, your story matters, and you are not alone.

At KD's Legacy, we believe in honoring those we’ve lost by continuing to speak up, show compassion, and advocate for mental health awareness. We believe that love, understanding, and faith can shine light even in the darkest seasons.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

At KD’s Legacy, we believe that mental health matters every day — but this month, we shine an extra bright light on the importance of taking care of our minds and supporting one another.

Let’s use May to remind ourselves and others:

*You are never alone — help and support are always within reach.

*Small acts of kindness can change someone’s day (and maybe their life).

The Vital Role of Deputy K-9s in Mental Health and Community Impact

Deputy K-9s are more than just hardworking members of law enforcement—they are unsung heroes contributing to mental health and community safety. Their tireless dedication begins with seizing drugs and illegal weapons off our streets, ensuring our neighborhoods remain safe. Beyond their crime-fighting duties, these remarkable dogs have also become an integral part of emotional support within law enforcement agencies.

Take, for example, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Bandit. K-9 Bandit is a familiar, comforting presence to the Deputies. Whether it’s brightening spirits after a long day or offering encouragement for the challenges ahead, Bandit has an uncanny ability to put smiles in hearts and ease the stress that comes with the job.

Collaboration and Training Excellence
The Shelby County K-9 Unit goes beyond daily duties by fostering teamwork and excellence through training classes. These sessions include partnerships with Logan, Darke, Miami, and Shelby counties. Such collaboration not only enhances the skills of the K-9 teams but also builds a stronger network of support across the region.

We are thrilled to announce the 2nd Annual KD’s Lake Day, where you can witness the incredible talent and teamwork of these K-9 units. The event will feature friendly competitions, impressive demonstrations, and a chance for attendees to engage in a Q&A session with K-9 handlers. At KD’s Legacy, we are proud to support the hardworking K-9s who give their all to protect and serve. From their efforts on the streets to their invaluable emotional support within the department these dogs play an essential role in our community. Together, we can ensure these incredible teams continue to thrive and make a difference.

On January 13, 2025, representatives from Kd’s Legacy Inc. stopped by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office to present a check to the Shelby County K-9 Unit. The Founder of Kd's Legacy, Tana Francis, has spent time with the K-9 Unit, observing their training and getting to know the members. The funds provided by Kd’s Legacy will be utilized to further the daily operations of the K-9 Unit at the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. Thank you!

This year, we successfully contributed funds to support the funding of a speaker for Versailles High School. This school delivers a range of Mental Health services, including impactful speakers and a Hope Squad, a student-led initiative that offers support to fellow students struggling with mental health issues. We express our appreciation to all who support KD's Legacy and our efforts to combat Mental Health issues.
