Our program offers : Beginning Band, Intermediate Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, and Chorus. The Gifford Middle School Band provides an outstanding musical experience for students in grades 6 through 8. The GMS program offers 6 courses of study: Beginning Band, Chamber Winds, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Intro to Percussion, and Percussion Ensemble. Students in the GMS Band regularly participate i
n the Florida Bandmasters Association All-State Band, the Indian River All-County Band, the Indian River State College Four County Honor Band and FBA Solo & Ensemble Assessment. In the School’s history, the Gifford Middle School Band has earned statewide, regional, and national recognition for musical excellence. GMS Bands consistently earned superior ratings at the FBA Music Performance Assessment since the schools’ opening in 1995, and have also performed at the Florida Southern College Middle School Band Symposium and the University of Florida and Stetson University Invitational Band Festivals. In recent years, the Gifford Jazz Band was selected to perform at the Florida Music Educators Association Conference (2012). The GMS Symphonic Honor Band has been further distinguished by being selected to perform at the University of Georgia Middle School Festival (2012), the Music for All National Middle School Music Festival (2013), and the National Band Association/College Band Directors National Association Southern Division Conference (2014). The success of the band program comes from the dedicated effort of our students, parents, and the support of the administration and school district. Students in the GMS Band begin their music education at the following elementary schools: Beachland, Citrus, Dodgertown, Glendale, Liberty, Osceola, Rosewood, or Vero Beach Elementary. After middle school, most of the students continue their music education in the Vero Beach High School Band or the Sebastian River High School Band.
