The Compassionate Friends will be hosting an in-person dinner meeting for parents living in Ventura, Oxnard, Ojai and the surrounding areas, on Wednesday, May 29, at 6 pm in Pierpont. If you have experienced the death of a child, at any age, from any cause, and you would like to meet other parents who get what you're going through and understand what it means to grieve a child, please contact Laura Lindsay, at (805) 561-3207 for more information or to RSVP. Since our child loss grief group regularly meets on ZOOM, from 7-8:30 pm on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, this in-person dinner meeting is unusual. It only occurs in months with a 5th Wednesday, as occurs in May. You are welcome to join us for dinner, or at our upcoming ZOOM meetings on Wed, June 5 and 19. Contact Laura at (805) 561-3207 for more information on the May 29 dinner and for the link to the ZOOM call. There is no need to try to grieve alone. We are The Compassionate Friends. We can help!

How do you create a memorial display for your child? You begin with photos and add those objects that remind you of your child. Think of your child and see what amazing things you find to include.

It's the one time each year that we push everything else aside and remember amazing children who have died too soon.

Supporting Familes After the Death of a Child

Parents, grandparents and siblings (over age 16) who've experienced the loss of a child (of any age, from any cause) are invited to join us. We are The Compassionate Friends of West Ventura County. Our meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday evenings of the month at the Poinsettia Pavilion on Foothill Rd.

Led by parents who understand what it means to loose a child, we are a diverse group of families who've all experienced significant loss: parents may still be in shock over a recent death, families can be slowly emerging out of the fog and beginning to heal, whi others are making significant progress integrating their loss into their lives. It doesn't matter where you are on your own journey, whether you're needing extra support or feeling strong and ready to give others support, there is always a place for you in this group. Here you can find acceptance, understanding and friendship from those who have lost a child and are on their own journeys through the grieving process.

We welcome you to come be yourself, speak openly about your child, express whatever you're feeling, or say nothing at all. We'll be present to listen and support you and your family and remind you that you're not alone. We'll be there to help you face those special milestones such as your child's birthday, death anniversary day and major holidays as well as share other available resources for healing.

Upcoming Meetings to be held from 7-9 pm at The Poinsettia Pavilion, Canada Larga Room located at 3451 Foothill Road, Ventura: Nov 7 Nov 21 Dec 5 Dec 19 For general information about The Compassionate Friends, please visit the national website at thecompassionatefriends.org.
