Back to school is a fresh start and every student may experience that transition differently.

Some students will walk through the doors feeling excited. Others may need more time to feel comfortable.

We also may not know what a student experienced during the break. A little extra patience can make a big difference.

Let’s make room for adjustment. Let’s make room for connection. Most importantly let’s make room for each student to begin exactly where they are.

Our Worry Monsters were hungry!

During our “Shred Your Worry” activity, kids drew or wrote down something that was worrying them, then fed it to our Worry Monsters to shred into tiny pieces.

This fun, hands-on activity helps children express difficult feelings, release what’s weighing on their minds, and make room for calmer thoughts.

This fall, we’re putting the FUN in FUNdraising with a brand-new way to support children’s social-emotional learning as they head back to school, while supporting our work here at Childhood Matters.

We’re keeping the details under wraps for just a few more days, but trust us, you’ll want to stay tuned.

Launching August 17 on National Nonprofit Day! Every little bit of support can help us give children more opportunities to build confidence, understand their emotions, strengthen relationships, and develop skills that last far beyond the classroom.

Some people lead from the front, and others are the steady strength behind everything happening along the way. For Childhood Matters, Amelia Mora-Mars, LMFT #102384 - Transformations Counseling is both.

But is about getting to know the people behind the titles. Amelia brings not only her professional experience to Childhood Matters, but also her heart. She celebrates our wins, helps us navigate the hard moments, believes in the possibilities, and continues to be someone we can lean on.

We often talk about the people who make our mission possible and Amelia is one of those people who helps hold it all together.

Thank you, Amelia, for being part of the foundation that keeps Childhood Matters growing, dreaming, and moving forward. We are so grateful for you.

Mental wellness begins long before a crisis, it begins with the tools, conversations, and habits we give children early.

Last month on the Childhood Matters Blog, we featured Ajit Dodani, a valued member of our Advisory Board, and his perspective on why mental hygiene should be taught from an early age.

Ajit Dodani is the Founder of EmpathifyU and an Empathy Strategist©, as well as a recognized keynote speaker, workshop and retreat facilitator, leadership coach, and former C-suite executive with more than 20 years of experience. His work focuses on helping leaders and organizations build trust, adapt to change, and create environments where people can thrive both professionally and personally.

Your child’s inner voice goes back to school with them. New classrooms, new teachers, new friendships, and sometimes, new worries. Positive affirmations can help kids walk into the school year feeling a little more confident and ready for what’s ahead.

What’s one affirmation your child needs to hear this school year?

Save this for those mornings when they need an extra confidence boost.
