What a start to the weekend here in the 412!
Pittsburgh was a little more “drafty” the past two days. The city we love so much has done a masterful job of welcoming the world of NFL Football. So cool to see so many fans from so many places enjoying each other and Downtown and the North shore! I have so many questions about how the powers that be pulled all of this together! Incredible!
Seeing long-time favorite give away big bucks for a short field goal was way cool! Maybe someday we can get Pat and the boys to support local volleyball and our foundation! We’re all Mustangs? Right?

Ten years. It seems like yesterday and a hundred years. It’s no wonder that the world has changed so drastically in your absence.
You’d be so proud of your children. They have become such wonderful adults. You’d be happy with the way so many have helped us in supporting your foundation and continuing your legacy. Friends, family, and people you never knew wished to know more and saw the good that you started. Many athletes have benefitted because of you.
You are missed, loved and remembered, not just for this day when you left us, but for the way you lived every day before that.
Ten years.

After a 2025 that broke records for both assistance and funds generated, we are set to make 2026 the best year yet! Here are some of the people and organizations that have supported us through sponsorships or grants! We are grateful for everyone who has attended or participated in the grass match and the All-Star Classic. You make what we do possible. We will continue to bang the drum about our great sport! It's never ever been better. Let's keep it growing, one player and one event at a time!
Happy New Year to all!

So fortunate to have witnessed this moment tonight. Loved Le Magnifique, and the Kid.
We are so lucky in Pittsburgh. In my lifetime…
Clemente, Franco, Mean Joe, Stargell, Mario, Jagr, Crosby, Malkin, Fleury, BABCOCK…
And many more.

Last post for a while, I promise!
So very thankful for everyone who made this year's All-Star Classic the best one yet!
We broke records with sponsorships this year, with generous participation from our presenting sponsor, Clair Associates Nationwide Insurance, and our four team sponsors, Paige Tamecki @ Edgar Snyder and Associates, The Andrew C. Virostek Foundation, Murrysville SportZone, and Queens of the Burgh.
Our athletes and coaches pretty much gave up an entire weekend, some traveling 1 and a 1/2 hours each way, twice! Dedication to the sport we all love was not in short supply!
League One Director of Coach Development, Jenny McDowell joined us from all the way in St. Petersburg, FL for our draft practice and future stars clinic. Jenny brought her trademark energy and love for the game with her, and left mountains of it here for all of us to remember...
Game day brought a wave of volunteers back to the gym. Kiski Area's key club, athletic department, and maintenance staff had all the answers to a growing event. Without them, led by AD Jake Nulph and Kiski HC Steve Cuhna, we could not do this...
My Family, from the concession stand, to the lines and ball girls, to my wife Audrey, who orchestrated so many aspects ...
The referees, Meghan, Debby, and John, who volunteered their services because they love the game and our mission...
John Skaruba, who probably at this point needs a break from the game. John guided his Avonworth team from the 11th seed in the WPIAL's to a title, both at the WPIAL level and States, and hosted his own All-Star event just two weeks ago! Take a break fella, and thank you for handling the announcing...
PSN for a marvelous job documenting our event with an incredible broadcast. The voices behind that broadcast, Claire and Grant Crytzer also helped out wit the practice/draft and the Futures Star Clinic. The ooze love for volleyball...
Lastly, Jim Joyce, who pitched this idea to me when the foundation was in trouble. He has been a solid source of knowledge and encouragement, and I am forever grateful for his mentorship and steadfastness. You rock James!
So thats a wrap on the We Serve First All-Star Classic. Congrats 2 everyone who made this year the best yet!

Last night was magical. There are many reasons why, but here is a start.
