The best part about the work we do is the meaningful impact we’re making to restore and protect the environment.

The second best part? The adventures we get to go on and the incredible places this work takes us. One week we’re on the coast doing invasive species control, and the next we’re in a river restoring natural habitat, often in some of the most beautiful and remote places.

With so much out of town work, we get to build strong bonds, create new friendships, and welcome new team members into the crew. We truly have the best team and the most fun vibes.

Planting season for 2025–2026 has officially come to an end, and what a season it’s been.

The ERSM team installed over 55,000 plants this year—an incredible accomplishment that reflects the dedication, grit, and teamwork of this crew. We’ve officially wrapped up our final installs, closing out the season with a project that included around 3,000 potted plants along with a few hundred cottonwood and willow poles.

From river restoration to wetland, oak, and prairie projects, this team has covered a lot of ground—literally and figuratively. Every site represents meaningful progress toward healthier, more resilient ecosystems.

Proud of the work, the impact, and the people behind it all. Great job, team.

And if this season is any indication… next year is shaping up to be another big one.

🚨 PROJECT HIGHLIGHT: RESTORING CAMPEN CREEK 🚨

The ERSM team has been hard at work on the Campen Creek Reconnection Project, partnering with the Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership and the City of Washougal, & Wolf Water Resources to restore and enhance critical habitat at Mable Kerr Park.

🌲 By the numbers, this effort includes:
• 16,000+ native trees, shrubs & wetland plugs installed
• Multiple beaver dam analogs to support natural hydrology
• Cottonwood protection to balance restoration with beaver activity
• Invasive w**d management across the site
• Bird and duck box installation to expand wildlife habitat
• Native wetland plugs help water quality

🌿 That’s over 16,000 native plantings and habitat features contributing to a fully restored floodplain system.

This collaborative project is re-establishing the natural connection between Campen Creek and its floodplain by replacing a degraded, artificial single-channel creek with a functioning floodplain that includes wetlands, a meandering creek channel, wood habitat structures, and native riparian plantings.

Beyond ecological restoration, the project will also extend and enhance the trail system at Mable Kerr Park—improving public access and safety. Hazard trees are being removed and repurposed on-site to create natural floodplain habitat features.

Proud of the ERSM team for the impact they’re making—for the ecosystem and the community.

Stay tuned for more project updates🌎
