Sixty-six years ago today, Jibreel Khazan (formerly Ezell Blair Jr.) and the late Maj. Gen. Joseph McNeil, the late Franklin McCain Sr. and the late David Richmond Jr. sparked the sit-in movement by requesting to be served at downtown Greensboro Woolworth’s whites-only lunch counter. The A&T Four! But it wasn’t just “a day.” They joined forces with others and pushed the movement forward, showing up daily. It spread across the country. Today, we benefit from their resistance.

The Aggie family lost one of our shining stars just before Christmas. Our dearest Mrs. Charley Belle (Hancock) Board, NC A&T SU class of 1954, passed away on December 10, 2024.

Charley had been a member of the Queens/Long Island, NY Alumni Chapter since 1996 and served as chapter treasurer until 2019. She was always full of energy, full of enthusiasm, and full of Aggie Pride! Charley stayed on top of all things Aggie Athletics, especially football. While a student at A&T, Charley was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, the Geographical Society, Future Teachers of America, and was secretary to the Panhellenic Council.

She was a proud and active alumna, and she will be sorely missed. Our deepest condolences go out to the Board family, and a heartfelt thank you to those alumni who were able to attend Charley’s services at J Foster Phillips Funeral Home, Jamaica, NY.

Repost from 12/13/24

It is with heavy hearts that we announce legendary Dean Emeritus Quiester Craig, who led the School of Business and Economics for an unprecedented 40 years, shepherding it to extraordinary heights, has passed away. We offer sincere thoughts, prayers and condolences to family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

Dr. Craig served as dean from 1972 until 2013. Under his tenure, the then business school accomplished achievements unprecedented in HBCU business education, including becoming the first HBCU to earn accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

While we could never quantify his immense life, career and impact, additional tribute is available via the link in our bio.
