Recently a team from Mercy came to the pantry with donations of birthday bags filled with cake mix, candles, and party supplies. The team also took a tour led by Circle of Concern’s Director of Development Tim Elwell. They learned about pantry operations as well as our many “wraparound programs” that benefit families. The team’s manager Cory may have said it best: “Beyond providing food, you offer guidance, support, and a sense of stability that helps alleviate stress for parents —positively impacting mental health and overall well-being.”

Thank you to the Mercy team for the birthday bags and for your interest in Circle of Concern. We so appreciate your kinds words and your support.

Circle of Concern extends a huge thank you to the Boeing Employee Community Fund for a generous grant for fresh food purchases. Wholesome, fresh foods such as vegetables, fruit, eggs and meat aren’t often donated in food drives. Circle is committed to providing our clients with a variety of fresh foods so that they can have a healthy varied diet. Because of the generosity of the Boeing Corporation and employees, we have been able to provide a wide array of fresh produce and quality proteins throughout the year. Being able to select quality fresh food during a pantry visit uplifts our clients in so many ways. Circle's Director of Nutrition and Operations Virginia Pearson shows us just some of the fresh food in our pantry purchased with monetary donations such as the Boeing ECF grant. Thank you to Boeing and its employees for their meaningful contribution. Check out our blog post for more:

Many thanks to the Hindu Sai Baba Center for a generous donation of 300 lbs of food! The center is a regular donor to Circle of Concern, choosing to mark their religious events with acts of charity. We are so grateful to Mayank and all of the volunteers at Sai Baba for their ongoing donations to Circle. The group cares deeply about the families who rely on Circle of Concern’s food pantry and we so appreciate the kindness and support of Sai Baba Center of St. Louis.

Congratulations to the class of 2026!

Tallie celebrated her graduation from Rockwood High School by donating 300 lbs of peanut butter and jelly to Circle of Concern. It comes just in time for summer, when school meals aren’t available. Tallie organized the food drive around the theme of “Celebrating with a Purpose.” She’s collected peanut butter and jelly each summer for families in need. Tallie is planning to continue her love of flying and pursue an aviation degree. Thank you for celebrating in such a meaningful way, Tallie!

Thanks to the gentleman in the photo, the Manchester Road Home Depot recently donated food and diapers to Circle of Concern. Derrick Williams is a vice-president of the organization Manchester Cares and one of its founders. He serves on the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Manchester. He also works at Home Depot and noticed how his fellow employees want to help people in need. He organized a food and diaper drive this spring—and plans to hold another diaper drive in the near future. To quote one of our Circle volunteers: “Derrick is just one of the good people that we get to cross paths with at Circle.” Thank you, Derrick!

Do you know that Circle of Concern may help current clients pay for kid’s summer programs?

A summer opportunity program for Circle families is available by application and can pay up to $200 toward summer lessons or camps for children ages 5-18. Client families must complete an application and attach a flyer or document about the camp, activity, or lesson. Applications are accepted through the end of July or until funds for the program are utilized.

Your donations to the Circle of Concern Food Pantry are always welcomed and needed. But if you’d like some suggestions for summer donations, Circle’s Pantry Coordinator Becky Pool has a few ideas. Fresh vegetables from your own home garden or fresh fruits from the grocery store are wonderful additions to our pantry selection. Thank you for your ongoing support to meet the needs of our Circle clients!

So many fresh vegetables are in season right now. It’s a great time to experiment with new types of salads and you can’t beat beets! Beets are low calorie, high in vitamins and minerals, anti-inflammatory, and great for brain health. Here’s a recipe from our pantry for a beet salad that looks as good as it tastes. Enjoy!

A bounty of healthy spring vegetables is being harvested from the Circle of Concern garden!

In March, the Circle volunteer garden crew planted seeds for early spring crops. Now clients are reaping the benefits as we stock our pantry with garden fresh Bok choy, lettuce, turnips, radishes, and beets. Lead volunteer gardener Larry Quick is especially pleased to see the crop of broccoli, a challenge to grow in the St. Louis area. We can’t wait to see the size of the garlic heads when the spring harvest is completed!
