These newborn kittens came into SVFA on May 2nd. They were found in a pontoon and there was no mom cat in sight. Kittens this small are the most vulnerable animals we care for. Tiny, delicate, and completely dependent on humans for survival, they require around-the-clock feedings, warmth, monitoring, and often times emergency care. Every bottle, every ounce gained, and every milestone reached is a victory.

Caring for orphaned newborn kittens is a labor of love! Ashley & Shawn have co-fostered these two adorable brothers since day one. How lucky are they to have two families that love them so much! All of their hard work and an abundance of love have allowed Cheeto & Sunny to thrive. Just look at those stomachs!

COURTESY LISTING FOR OWNER – CALL HEIDI @ 701-799-4957

Bear is a 5 year old neutered male that is current on vaccinations, and also microchipped. I am going through a divorce and am renting a farmstead, but he tends to chase the cows there and today he killed a cat. I need to find a suitable home for him ASAP. He is a Cowboy Corgi, and gets along with people well, loves kids, and other dogs. Not recommended for around cattle or cats. PLEASE CALL HEIDI AT 701-799-4957

🩵💙 Have you ever seen a 1-day-old kitten? Here they are! 🩵💙

These two tiny kittens were found on the side of the road by a kind-hearted passerby who knew they needed help. When SVFA received the call, we immediately stepped in to assist.

The kittens were safely picked up, warmed, fed with a bottle syringe, and given the care they desperately needed. Knowing that newborn kittens thrive best with a mother, we searched for a nursing mama cat who could help.

Thankfully, we found a mama cat who had recently lost her own kittens and was grieving. She welcomed these little ones as her own, accepting them into her care right away.

We’re happy to report that both babies are doing well with their new foster mama, and we’re hopeful for a bright future ahead for this precious little family. 🐾

A huge thank you to the Good Samaritan who stopped to help and made this happy ending possible! 💙🩵

Baby season is here, and while our first instinct is often to help, sometimes the best thing we can do is give wildlife space.

Every year, well-meaning people accidentally orphan healthy babies because they look alone, cold, or “abandoned.” In reality, wildlife parents are likely nearby watching, feeding, or waiting for you to leave. The #1 cause of baby animal death in Spring is unnecessary human intervention. Please look over the guide below for simple ways that we can all help protect future generations of wildlife. Then, share this information with family, friends, and neighbors! A little awareness can go a long way towards protecting our precious wildlife neighbors.

Know of a wildlife rehabber in the area? Let us know! Also, when attempting to contact a rehabilitator and you can't get ahold of someone, keep in mind that it's most likely because the rehabilitator is extremely busy. Try sending a text instead with a photo of the baby and wait for their response before touching or feeding. Wildlife rehabilitators often volunteer their time, rely on donations for funding, and are sometimes caring for dozens of animals while still answering calls for help from across the region. While being with an injured animal can feel very stressful, the best thing you can do is relax and not rush what to do next.

Fargo Pound does not personally offer wildlife rehabilitation services, but we can connect individuals with wildlife rehabilitators across the region that do. One available resource is the Regional Wildlife Rehabilitator Map which shows licensed wildlife rehabilitators in US States and Canadian Provinces. If you are new to the field of wildlife rehabilitation and have come across an abandoned or injured animal, please use this map to find a wildlife rehabilitator that can help or check out their decision guides on the best course of action when you've found wildlife: https://www.nwrawildlife.org/page/Found_Injured_Wildlife

COURTESY LISTING FOR OWNER – CALL 701-269-6869

Jazz and Maya (black) are two very special, unique and wonderful dogs. They are young, only 3 years old. They are half-sisters and are very bonded to each other. They do most everything together and will even sleep in the same kennel. They are loyal and will follow you around like once you have earned their trust. They are very friendly and they love attention. Jazz loves belly rubs. Jazz & Maya are both spayed and current on their vaccinations, including rabies. Maya is also microchipped and that information will be provided to the new owner. Jazz has a hernia, but it doesn’t bother her.

Jazz loves chasing a jolly ball. Maya will chase a tennis ball a few times, and then she loses interest. Maya's favorite thing to do is sniff. She has a huge hunting instinct. She attacked a cat as well at another home, so it's probably best if Maya and Jazz go to a home without any cats.

Maya and Jazz came to their current home with abusive pasts. They were very mistreated and beaten. And we suspect it was by a man because they seem to bond with women more so than men. At one checkup with a vet, he felt Jazz's jawline and told me it had been damaged in the past very badly. Because of this, she is very protective about her head space. If she is startled or anyone moves too quickly towards her, she will snap her jaw. She does NOT attack. It is simply how she reacts to fear, and she only ever does that when she feels threatened.

You can have both of them around other people, but you must go slow about it. They warm up to women quicker than men, and may bark more at men. Don't ever allow anyone to rush up to them. They must go slowly and the dogs must feel safe to go up to them on their own. They don't feel safe if everyone and anyone gets into their personal space. Because of their abusive past, they have trust issues, and it will take some time to earn their trust. But after the period of time when you've shown them you are not going to hurt them, they will be your most loyal companion.

They really are good dogs, despite their faults, and they really, really want to please. They love to lay by your feet in the house and if it's something you allow, would love to cuddle with you on the couch as well. They love attention, belly rubs and head scratches. Dogs never forget, so these dogs will probably never be "normal" dogs, but they will still make wonderful dogs for just the right people who understand dogs who have been abused and mistreated in the past. They deserve to have a long and happy life! They are looking for a long happy life preferably in the country as they have a lot of energy and need to run. PLEASE CALL THE OWNER @ 701-269-6869 FOR COMPLETE DETAILS.
