For generations of Cal Poly Maritime Academy cadets, some of the most meaningful learning has happened aboard Training Ship Golden Bear. 🐻

For more than 30 years, the ship has provided hands-on learning experiences that prepare cadets to lead in the maritime industry and beyond. This fall, Golden Bear will return to the U.S. Maritime Administration for eventual decommissioning as the academy begins its transition to Golden State, a new, purpose-built training ship for the next generation of Cal Poly students.

📸 Know a Cal Poly Maritime Academy student or cadet with an eye for photography?

Cal Poly is looking for a student photographer at the Solano campus to capture Learn by Doing in action, cover campus events and create compelling images that tell the story of the Cal Poly Maritime Academy community!

This position pays $17 per hour, including photo processing time. Students must provide their own photography equipment.

It’s finally here! The Fair Winds Family Weekend schedule is live!

We’re excited to welcome Mustang families to Cal Poly Maritime Academy Oct. 9-10 for a weekend of connection, exploration and Learn by Doing.

Spend time with your student or cadet while experiencing the people, places and traditions that shape their Cal Poly Maritime Academy experience. Arriving in Vallejo early? Join us Thursday, Oct. 8, for CommUNITY Day, a celebration of the cultures, experiences and connections that bring our campus community together.

Then, get ready for a weekend full of opportunities to explore campus, connect with our community and make memories together — including the return of ship tours Saturday, Oct. 10! ⚓

And don’t forget your favorite festive attire! We’ll be embracing an island-inspired vibe throughout the weekend. 🌺🌴

Exciting news from Maritime! 💚🐴🌊💙

Cal Poly Maritime Academy welcomed Gov. Gavin Newsom and state, regional, and university leaders to Mare Island on Wednesday for the announcement of $48.5 million in California Jobs First investments to strengthen key industries, expand workforce development, and support job creation statewide.

The investment includes more than $8.2 million to strengthen the Bay/Delta region’s shipbuilding industry through innovation, education and workforce development.
