🇺🇸 Honor Our Heroes. Be Part of Something Meaningful. 🇺🇸

The next Hudson Valley Honor Flight takes off Saturday, May 30 from Westchester County Airport — and it’s more than just a flight. It’s a mission of gratitude.

These incredible journeys bring our veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials built in their honor — many for the very first time. It’s a powerful reminder that their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

🇺🇸 Honoring Our Special Operations Forces 🇺🇸

Today marks the 39th anniversary of the establishment of United States Special Operations Command — a force that has remained on the front lines of defending our nation, taking on the toughest missions, and achieving what others thought was impossible.

We thank every man and woman who has served — and continues to serve — with unwavering dedication to protecting our freedom.

🇺🇸 Strength. Honor. Special Ops. 🇺🇸

Today is the 39th anniversary of the establishment of the U.S. Special Operations Command, and since its inception, USSOCOM has been at the forefront of defending our nation, pushing boundaries, and achieving the impossible. Thank you to all of our Special Operations Forces men and women for your selfless service, and for protecting our freedom so fiercely.

🇺🇸 The Medal of Honor Post 112 Committee was honored to join Congressman Mike Lawler and Secretary of Veteran Affairs Doug Collins to hear directly about VA progress: what’s working and where more support is still needed.

Commander Pete Fiumefreddo and Executive Secretary Helen Keating joined a room full of veterans and veteran supporters in Yorktown. Secretary Collins and Congressman Lawler heard firsthand from veterans navigating care, benefits, and legislation, and the need for clearer access to support.

In the words of Collins, “the VA is the largest integrated healthcare system in the country with the best clients in world, we take care of our veterans”. Collins shared that the VA is emphasizing reducing backlog, improving wait times, better service, and putting veterans first in the process. The system infrastructure which is 30 years in the making needs a revamp.

A powerful moment: honoring Iwo Jima veteran Nils Mockler, nearly 100, with a special recognition and challenge coin. His words both inspired and educated everyone in the room.

Today’s discussion reinforced something critical: it’s not just about access to services, it’s about ensuring veterans feel supported in getting what they’ve earned.

🇺🇸 Thank you Congressman Lawler and Secretary Collins for including our Committee—and for your leadership.

Gary Burnell Beikirch (born August 29, 1947) is a former United States Army soldier who received the United States military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions during the Vietnam War. A combat medic, Beikirch was awarded the medal for exposing himself to intense fire to rescue and treat the wounded and for continuing to provide medical care despite his own serious wounds during a battle at Dak Seang Camp.

Army Day – April 6 💙🇺🇸

As our nation approaches America’s 250th anniversary, we are reminded that our freedom has always been defended by those willing to serve.

Today, we proudly recognize the strength, dedication, and sacrifice of our US Army Soldiers—and the families who stand beside them every step of the way.

Here in the Town of Mount Pleasant, we honor that legacy through the Military Walk of Honor at Town Hall—a place where service, sacrifice, and community come together.

The Medal of Honor Post 112 Committee is proud to have been instrumental in bringing these monuments to our Town to remember and recognize all who serve—and where we can all pay tribute to them.

🇺🇸 Strength in service.
🇺🇸 Strength in family.
🇺🇸 US Army - over 250 years of American courage.

Happy Medal of Honor Day.
Today, we honor two recipients interred at Kensico Cemetery:

Luigi Palma di Cesnola (1832–1904) — A Civil War hero who later became the first Director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, whose archaeological collection from Cyprus remains one of the Met's most treasured exhibitions.

Michael Murphy (1839–1904) — Honored for his courage at the Battle of North Anna River, he went on to serve in the NY State Legislature and became NYC's first Police Commissioner.

Thank you to the Mt Pleasant NY Medal of Honor Committee for all they do to honor our veterans. Pictured here are two veterans saluting di Cesnola at a past Veterans Remembrance Ceremony, a tradition every May now entering its 20th year, dedicated to honoring these recipients and all veterans who have served.
