From Aaron Parnas: another way for ICE to terrorize both those it seeks to capture AND those who defy them…

“ICE plans to spend up to $20 million by March on thousands of “Glove” devices, electric-shock gloves made by Compliant Technologies LLC of Lexington, Kentucky, according to a DHS notice published Monday. The manufacturer says the gloves deliver a painful shock directly to skin that brings people into compliance in under three seconds without leaving burns or scars, and markets them as a “humane, low-optics, de-escalation solution,” though they’ve previously been used mainly in jail settings. John Peters of the Institute for the Prevention of In-Custody Deaths, who studies the device, described the sensation as sharp and immediate, “like a bee sting,” and said ICE’s purchase would likely be the company’s largest to date, envisioning use in removing uncooperative people from cars, homes, and detention facilities. The manufacturer warns against using the gloves as punishment or on people merely being verbally defiant, or on children, pregnant women, elderly, or disabled individuals.

Civil rights advocates reacted with alarm, arguing the gloves add a low-visibility way to inflict pain onto an agency already facing criticism for excessive force with minimal oversight amid Trump’s immigration crackdown. ACLU deputy policing director Jenn Rolnick Borchetta said “ICE spent the last year showing this country they are too quick to use force,” warning that shocks delivered “with the slight push of a button that maybe nobody else can see” create “a recipe for harm to the public,” and she questioned using such devices at all in civil immigration enforcement, which isn’t a criminal matter. Compliant Technologies CEO Jeff Niklaus declined to comment when asked about the deal. The purchase adds to a growing list of enforcement tools and tactics drawing scrutiny as ICE’s role and budget have expanded significantly under the administration’s immigration agenda.”

Obviously, “low-optics” simply means that they can use these unholy weapons surreptitiously so the public doesn’t rise up in anger. When will this madness end? 😡

According to Aaron Parnas:
“ICE will begin equipping officers with body cameras nationwide by the end of September, but its policy gives the agency broad discretion to withhold footage of shootings and other serious incidents whenever officials decide release isn’t in the agency’s “best interests.”

In other words, we’ll take the pictures, but we’ll never release them to the public. Fake transparency.

Proof that the Power of the People rising up in protest CAN make a difference:

GOP backs down on voter suppression scheme after public outcry
Faced with outraged voters, Republican officials balked at a plan to cut polling locations in a Texas battleground county.

The plan called for eliminating half of the locations in the county, which has drifted blue in recent years, but that all changed at the last moment when Republicans were faced with massive backlash from those who packed the meeting room — and two overflow rooms — to demand that their voting locations remain open.

If they can do it in TEXAS, of all places, we can do it here. Keep engaged, speak out, and stay strong!
