🐾 📣 HOW CAN YOU HELP?
DO NOT GO OUT AND SEARCH ON FOOT - it can do more harm than good and push an already scared dog into hiding or move from the area.

📞 Spot this pup? Call the number RIGHT AWAY.

🚫 Please don’t chase, whistle, make kissing sounds(as tempting as we know this is!), or drive toward them — it can scare them off.

✨ And one more thing: DO NOT POST SIGHTINGS on social media (no one has time to sit scrolling all day and that can result in critical leads being missed!)

🎥 Check your Ring and security cameras — you might catch a glimpse that helps bring them home. Again - if you see this pup, even on your security camera, call the phone number immediately and do not post to social media.

Sometimes rescuing a scared dog doesn’t require a trap. It requires patience, understanding, and knowing when to simply slow down.

Recently, one of our Lost Dog Consultants, Michelle, received a call from a woman outside Pima County who had discovered a frightened, abandoned dog near her home.

He wouldn’t come close. He wouldn’t take a biscuit. And every time someone approached, he ran.

Our Lost Dog Consultant , Michelle, coached her through our Shy Dog Protocol—encouraging her to sit quietly, give him space, use irresistible food, avoid chasing, and let him decide when he was ready to trust.

So she sat.

And waited.

For hours.

Little by little, he came closer. He began eating the food she tossed to him. Eventually, he was sitting just a few feet away. Then, after hours of patience, he ate from her hand and allowed her to touch him.

After more than six hours together, she was finally able to put a leash on him.

She got him.
And the sweetest part?
She’s going to adopt him. ❤️🐾

This is why education matters.
Sometimes the most important thing we can do for a frightened dog is teach someone how to understand what the dog is telling us—and give that dog the time and space to make the choice to come home.

We’re incredibly proud of our Lost Dog Consultant for helping make this rescue possible, even from miles away.

One phone call. One patient person. One dog who now has a second chance.

That’s what community looks like. ❤️

🐾 Every dog deserves a second chance. Red Collar Rescue & Recovery is building stronger partnerships to enhance our At-Risk dog rescue program. We are a trapping organization and while we do the field rescue - we partner then with 501(c)(3) dog rescues who commit & raise their hand to take the dog. That's how the magic works!

We don't end it there - we then fundraise to help support that rescue who had the guts to say YES, WE WILL HELP! The proceeds then go to a local vet to help get the dog the initial medical treatment it needs.

Together, we can rescue more, save more lives, and create more second chances.

One of our favorite rescue stories!

Lost for six weeks in Sonoita, Arizona, this sweet girl traveled miles, following unpredictable patterns that made finding her feel impossible.

That’s when Red Collar Rescue & Recovery was called in.

We tracked her movement and trends, followed the data, and waited until we had the right strategy, location, and line of sight to set the most effective humane trapping plan.

And it worked. ❤️🐾

Today, she’s safe, happy, and living her best life.

This is what we do. Red Collar Rescue & Recovery provides consultative guidance and humane trapping services throughout Pima County, Arizona to help families bring their lost dogs home.

Live outside Pima County? We can consult out of county, too.
