A new research report said that victims of abuse need to be given better and more timely services at centres handling abuse cases.

As part of our advocacy, we conduct w to report training in primary schools. The idea is to raise awareness and provide a safety plan for the children in the event of an attempted abuse/how to report abuse. We have trained over 18,000 children ! At the current rate of cases coming into the Humacentre, the average cost of treating and helping one child victim of Child sexual violence is $20 ! We are the referral centre for Huye Rwanda and we support then victims and their famillies from hospital referral through to court. We also welcome another member of the team. Intern Vironoque ! She is studying Social Studies at the Catholic University in Rwanda and is in her final year. Her internship will last for 4 weeks.

We welcome a new member to the team ! Betty MUKANKUSI has joined us as a replacement for our case worker Alice who left earlier this year. She is a welcome addition to the Humura team and is settling in well processing over 35 cases since she started !

We have been invited to sit on the District of Huye judicial committee. The committee comprises of chiefs of police, correctional services and senior prosecutors and aims to widen access to justice and monitor all areas of the judiciary.

20 new cases received since 3 January 2015. Team are working with the families and the District police and prosecutors in providing interviews of the victims.

It is a sad fact that some children in Rwanda can't afford to have medical examinations at Hospital after being abused ! This also leaves them vulnerable to HIV. Partner with us Help to get justice for these children and the care they need.

Last week we received 7 new cases at the Humura Centre. We are now processing and our operatives are in the field and we have conducted forensic interviews of the Children. These will be passed to Investigators and prosecutors.
