What does LEAD stand for?
• Learn to live out your faith in the real world.
• Empowered to fulfill God’s purpose.
• Act like a leader: learn by doing!
• Discover & unlock your God-given potential. Each student will participate in one o
f three distinct leadership tracks. All tracks include LEAD’s foundational curriculum, taught by trained instructors. They cover topics such as Laying a Biblical Foundation, Ambassadors for Christ, Christian Citizenship, Worldviews in Action, and Debate and Communication. The three tracks students can participate in are:
House track: Students role-play as state representatives, debating real bills from the Iowa Legislature. The simulation culminates with a session in the Iowa State Capitol Building. This track is open to all students. First year students are required to participate in the House track. Senate track: Returning students build on their experience in the House Track with this exciting Senate simulation. They can amend their bills, contribute to media coverage of the House, and help lead the House Floor Session. The Senate track is open to students who have completed the House track. Media track: Media students play a key role at camp as part of the LEAD News Network team, producing a newscast and a daily newspaper. Students will gain both print and broadcast media experience through this challenging and rewarding track. The Media track is open to students who have completed the House track. Throughout the Legislative simulation students actively engage in:
• Critical and Strategic Thinking
• Teamwork
