Itās been a while, friends! Honestly, I will chalk that up to a good thing. No news is good news, right? I appreciate those that are still hanging in there on our page for updates. Please read this entire post, thereās a little plot twist towards the end. ā¤ļø
Delayed! While driving to the airport, we received three texts before we got thereā¦ delayed, delayed again, then delayed again. The kids were amazing, and we got to our hotel around 3:00AM Monday. Just enough time to āhit the sackā, have some breakfast and head south to WPB.
You all may or may not know, but I strategically schedule appointments when I take the twins down. The anxiety of appointment day is real. Sometimes itās a realistic feeling, and others not. So scheduling it is always like:
āHow many swim days should I account for ahead of time if they potentially need casted again?ā
āIf they need more intervention, how much longer can we stay?ā
āDo I need to book a flight a few days before their appointment, or just fly down and show up?ā
Trust me when I say, I cover all the what ifs and the how can we be the most comfortable, especially in times are family is āsplit upā. Probably why this time around I booked everything maybe 2 days before departureā¦ š¤·š½āāļø Blame it on the head injury thrown at us, I guess (not mine, different story).
Arrival at Dr. Dobbs! We donāt wait long, as we arrive at our appointment at the exact time it is supposed to be happening. Side note: this is the first time weāve traveled with potty trained twinsā¦ so I forgot to account for potential potty breaks on the ā3 hour tourā (name that theme song š). Back to topic, weāve built the twins up! They were so excited to see Dr. Dobbs and even knew what they were going to tell him about their feet and the amazing stuff they are doing and their growth. Ok, so Dr. Dobbs and Dr. Williams enter room- the twins suddenly become mute statues. (Before the entrance, they were moving, shaking, dancing and talking- quite clearly and LOUD)
Update! THEY ARE THRIVING, DOING AMAZING, NO CONCERNS!!! Their mobility, flexibility, and activity level are serving them well! Both Drās are very happy with where theyāre at in their journey. We even talked transitioning from nighttime boots and bar to nighttime ADMās- this will be a game changer (when we hear back from insurance, and when we can afford them, of course). Nonetheless, exciting times for the Davis crew. They are almost a year from post-op and this was the news we were looking for! I joked with the doctorās; last year we gave them surgery for their birthday, this year we will get them their new boots- tone is down a bit.
Florida! Florida is always amazing. Beginning in January 2023, Cooper and I have spent a lot of time down here. Weāve tried to make some family trips out of it, we added Archer to Dr. Dobbsā care, and Will has bought in to helping the babes and understanding their needs. This trip was no exception to āamazingā. Weāve enjoyed good food, the beach, the pool, staying up way past our bedtime, and making memories. While not always easy to get here, and as frequently as we needed to at times, thereās always been a sense of peace, a sense of connection, and weāve truly seen and felt the works the God provides.
Plot twist! While we received really positive and welcomed news about our twins, some friends of ours didnāt receive such positive news. This family is local to Champaign. They have a very strong and courageous little girl that needs immediate surgical intervention and will be casted to start her Kindergarten experience. Later in the fall, she will undergo another procedure for a different matter. Please, please consider adding them to your prayer lists, thinking of you lists, good vibes only lists, whatever you may have to send them all the positivity! I do plan to post more about them and their situation later- and possibly some further assistance we can provide for them! We created this page to not only spread the word about our familyās journey, but in hopes, that someday we can provide information, support, and positivity for other families. Hereās a start! This Champaign Family is so special and mom has been a listening ear to me MANY times! More to comeā¦
