The PTA is hosting Thomas Paine’s 1st Annual Read-A-Thon! Students will set a reading-minute goal and collect pledges from family, friends, and neighbors. All funds raised will support bounce houses for Fun & Field Day!

Important Dates:
October 1 — Pledge collection begins
November 1 — Reading begins
November 30 — Fundraiser ends
December 11 — Pledges due

🏆 Incentive: The top-earning class will receive an ice cream or pizza party! Students will receive a pledge sheet to take home with additional information

Donations can be made by cash, check, or electronically. Please make checks

With a new school year here, don't forget to sign up for Box Tops and submit your receipts to earn money for our school!

Steps to Sign Up and Select Your School
1. Download the app: Get Box Tops for Education from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. https://boxtops4education.com/get-the-app
2. Create an account: Open the app and register using your email address, Google, or Facebook account.
3. Select Thomas Paine Elementary: Tap your profile or account icon, go to Manage Schools, search for Thomas Paine Elementary or by zip code (61802), and choose it.

How to Earn for the School
1. Scan paper receipts: Tap the scan button in the app and take a photo of your store receipt within 14 days of purchase.
2. Submit digital receipts: If you shop online or use grocery pickup, forward your email store receipt to [email protected] using the exact email tied to your Box Tops account.

The PTA is celebrating Back To School with free sno-cones! Come by to get your sno-cone after meeting your teacher. We will be at the main entrance.

We encourage families, teachers, and staff to sign up to be a PTA member to stay up-to-date on PTA-sponsored events and provide input on advocating for the needs and best interests of our students. Membership is $6 for the year and the money goes to supporting our students and school! Membership forms will be available at Back To School Night. See you on Thursday, August 13 at 4:30 PM!

We love Ms. Peterik! She's an amazing teacher and this recognition is so well deserved. Our Thomas Paine students are lucky to have had her as part of their musical journey, congratulations, Ms. Peterik! 🎶

Urbana's own Stacey Peterik was recognized in this month's Music Education Arts Magazine as one of this years "50+ Music Teachers who Make A Difference."
