Life Teen this week started the night by assembling LEGO sets and discovering that every piece has a purpose!

From there, we connected the pieces to something much bigger: the Church. Just like a LEGO set isn’t complete without all of its pieces, the Church isn’t complete without each one of us. We are all unique, gifted, and called to be part of the Body of Christ. ❤️

We then dove into the Four Marks of the Catholic Church:
✝️ One
🙏 Holy
🌎 Catholic
⛪ Apostolic

A great reminder for our teens: You aren’t just attending the Church; you are a part of it! Your gifts, your faith, and your willingness to serve matter.

🐾 Blessing of the Animals 🐾

Today, we gathered as a parish family to celebrate the Blessing of the Animals, giving thanks for the many creatures who bring joy, companionship, and wonder into our lives. ❤️

This beautiful tradition honors St. Francis of Assisi, whose feast day is October 4. St. Francis is the patron saint of animals and all creation. Born in Italy in the late 12th century, he chose a life of simplicity, humility, and devoted service to God.

St. Francis had a profound love for all of God’s creation. He saw God’s goodness reflected in the world around him and encouraged others to treat every living creature with kindness, compassion, and respect. In his beloved “Canticle of the Creatures,” St. Francis praises God through the sun, moon, earth, water, and all living things, reminding us that the whole of creation is a gift from our Creator.

Today’s blessing is a beautiful reminder that ALL creation belongs to God and is a gift worthy of our gratitude, love, and care. 🐶🐱🐴🐰🐾

This year is especially meaningful as Pope Leo XIV has proclaimed a special Jubilee Year marking the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi. What a wonderful way to honor his legacy by celebrating and blessing God’s creatures together as a parish family!

A special thank you to Deacon Gary for blessing all of God’s creatures today and helping us celebrate this beautiful tradition.
