This International Women’s Day, we honor the women who changed the course of cancer research and gave families the power of knowledge.

Dr. Mary-Claire King is the geneticist who discovered the BRCA1 gene, proving that some breast and ovarian cancers are inherited. Her groundbreaking research made it possible for families to undergo genetic testing, identify risk earlier, and make life-saving decisions.

Because of women like Dr. King, millions now have access to information that can lead to earlier detection, prevention, and hope.
Behind every warrior is another warrior.

We're growing and we need YOU on our team!

We are looking for several volunteers who want to help us empower and support our Warriors on an on-going basis. If you're passionate about helping others, have skills that can help us grow the organization and have a little time to spare, we would love to talk with you.

* Warrior package fulfillment- Weekly or bi-weekly volunteer commitment of 2-3 hours. Must be attentive to even the smallest details and committed to a quality outcome. Ability to work within multiple computer programs is a necessity. Located in Jefferson City, MO. Ability to lift 20 lbs.

* Volunteer Relations Coordinator- This volunteer position would require 3-8 hours/week, but will vary, based on need. Our Coordinator will lead recruiting, onboarding, activity and relationship management of our organization's volunteer base. You will work closely with various committees and event chairs, as well as one-on-one with our amazing group of volunteers. Ideal candidate would possess strong computer skills, be proficient with phone, email and text communication and have strong organizational skills in order to help our events and committees fulfill our mission.

*Mission Committee- the heart and soul of Red Slipper. This group ensures that everything we do is focused on empowering and connecting our Warriors so they can thrive during and after treatment. Through ongoing communications we work to build relationships with our Warriors. Mission Committee helps create our Slipper Sisters communications and events. They develop additional resources and outreach for our Warriors and those who love them. Mission Committee meets monthly to bi-monthly as a group, with event- and mission-focused breakout groups throughout the year. This is the perfect fit for a Survivor looking to share her experiences to help others, but also ideal for anyone who's ever loved a cancer Warrior.
