Our May blog is live!

Get inspired by Rosemary’s journey of resilience and determination. Despite losing her business twice, she rebuilt and continued moving forward.

In Kenya, an estimated 60–70% of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) fail within their first three years. However, many entrepreneurs overcome setbacks and go on to succeed. Rosemary is one such entrepreneur.

Her story reminds us that setbacks don’t define us; it’s how we respond and rise again that shapes our future. With the right support at the right time, challenges can become opportunities for growth, stability, and long-term success.

At HopeCore, we are committed to empowering entrepreneurs through economic empowerment and capacity building. Our impact data shows that average household incomes increased by 113% over two years, while nearly 60% of clients living below the poverty line moved above it.

Happy Madaraka Day!

This year’s theme, “Education, Skills and the Future,” resonates deeply with our mission at HopeCore. We believe lasting change happens when people are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to succeed.

Through our programs, we empower learners, young people, entrepreneurs, and households to lead healthier lives and build sustainable livelihoods.

As we celebrate this important day, we reaffirm our commitment to investing in Kenyans and the communities we serve through health education, entrepreneurship, and capacity building, empowering them with the knowledge and skills to shape the future they envision for themselves.

Prevention Starts With Us!

Just like we learned during COVID-19, prevention starts with each of us.

Ebola is a serious disease, but knowing the signs and taking action early can help protect you and those around you. If you feel unwell, seek medical care promptly. Practice good hand hygiene, follow health guidance, and share accurate information with family and friends.

When we stay informed and act early, we are better prepared to prevent the spread of disease.

Stay aware. Stay safe. Protect your community.

Happy Eid Mubarak!

We join our Muslim brothers and sisters in sharing warm wishes for peace, joy, and blessings.

May this special day remind us of the values of sacrifice, kindness, generosity, and togetherness. May it inspire us to care for one another and strengthen the bonds that unite our communities.

From all of us at HopeCore, Eid Mubarak!

Tharaka, we are here!

Our School Health Program has expanded to Tharaka North and South sub-counties, now reaching the entire county!

We are bringing essential healthcare to learners through vision screening, health education, basic treatment, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) activities, and malaria prevention programs.

Our goal is to bridge the healthcare access gap. No child should have to choose between health and education.

Today, we raise a cup and celebrate the resilient tea-growing farmers!

While many enjoy tea as part of their daily routine, few see the hard work behind every harvest.

Tea farming is tough. Farmers constantly face unpredictable weather, fluctuating market prices, and a lack of capital, challenges that too often leave many farmers stuck in a cycle of pure survival.

HopeCore has supported and remains committed to supporting tea farmer groups, ensuring they have the financial backing and empowerment they need to transition from survival to long-term stability and growth.

Happy International Tea Day!

High blood pressure is called the “silent killer” for a reason.

An estimated 1.4 billion adults worldwide are affected and many people live with it every day without knowing it.

As we continue this year’s World Hypertension Day conversation, themed “Controlling Hypertension Together,” let’s talk about how we can take charge of our health through simple, everyday habits.

So, let’s talk!
What is one habit that has helped you (or someone you know) keep blood pressure in check: Staying active, eating healthier, reducing stress, or regular check-ups?

Share your tips and let's support each other in keeping our hearts healthy!

To wrap up this year’s Nurses Week, our nurses gave back to the community in the most heartwarming way by visiting and spending time with children at the Small Home for the Physically Handicapped.

The visit was filled with smiles, warm interactions, and unforgettable moments that made the day special.

It was a beautiful reminder that nursing goes beyond medical care and is about compassion, kindness, and making a difference in the community.

“I used to think starting a business needed a lot of money, but I have learnt I can start with as little as two hundred shillings and even save from home using a simple savings box. I feel so motivated and ready to start,” Vivian shared excitedly.

Vivian is among 76 graduates from the Baraka and Destiny cohorts of our recent Street Business School (SBS) training.

The program equipped participants with practical business skills, alongside lessons on saving, financial discipline, and starting small.

Transformation begins with one small idea and the courage to take the first step. This is what we, as HopeCore, aim to inspire in the communities we serve.

15 years ago, HopeCore hired its first community nurse. Since then, our team of dedicated community nurses has continued to bring healthcare services closer to the people, helping us reach and serve over 425,000 individuals in the communities we serve.

This year, we are excited to welcome three new nurses to the nurses team. Our goal is to continue delivering care and making a difference every day.

During this Nurses Week, we celebrate our incredible nurses and all nurses around the world. Thank you for your compassion, commitment, and for always showing up for the communities.

Happy Nurses Week!
