The volunteers of Roundup Community Partners want to recognize and thank the Montana Nursery and Landscape Association’s Community Beautification Fund for the $1,100 grant for the revitalization of our Welcome Plaza gardens. The Plaza serves as an anchor development for Main Street and a gateway to welcome visitors into the community.

MNLA’s Community Beautification Fund grants project funds to communities across the state that highlight the nursery and landscape industry, improve outdoor public spaces, add value to the communities of our members, engage MNLA members, and demonstrate the value of quality, professional landscape services. Governor Greg Gianforte, First Lady Susan Gianforte, and the Governor's team started their tour of Roundup's Main Street projects at the Wier Building with Musselshell County Commissioners Mike Goffena, Robert Pancratz, and Mike Turley; Theresa Doumitt (Wier Building Project Manager and Roundup Community Partners' Co-chair); Assistant Mayor Floyd Fisher; and Randy Hafer and Virginia Duke of High Plains Architects. The Montana Department of Commerce has been a strong partner supporting the Wier Building Project and the Governor wanted to hear more about this collaborative and innovative project. The Wier Building project will help address the critical need for workforce housing and Main Street commercial spaces while also stimulating intentional economic development and preserving Roundup's unique cultural heritage.

The Governor and First Lady then toured Main Street stopping to highlight some new businesses, Roundup's Commemorative Garden, the Main Street Bench project, the Welcome Plaza with Visitor Information Kiosk, and the School District Office Building donated by Wells Fargo. The newly completed Central Park playground and Bair Collins Recreation Area Master Plan were also discussed with the Governor for their economic development value.

The final stop on the Governor's tour was the War Memorial where the Governor bestowed Service Achievement Awards to two deserving veterans, Ron Carson and Bill Turner. The ceremony was very meaningful and celebrated both of these veterans many achievements and services in the line of duty and as volunteers in our community.

Governor Gianforte and the First Lady of Montana will visit Roundup on August 20, 2026, to present the 2025 Montana Governor’s Veteran Commendation to two recipients from Musselshell County. The ceremony will be held at the Musselshell County Veterans War Memorial at the south end of Main Street tentatively at 11:15 AM. The commendation will be presented to Musselshell Valley V.F.W. Post 4925 former Commander Billy Don Turner and present Commander Ron Carson,

The Montana Governor’s Veteran Commendation honors exceptional veterans who have not only served our nation in uniform, but who continue to serve their communities here at home.

The public along with family and friends are invited to attend the ceremony and recognize the service of these local veterans.

Since the program began, the governor has recognized more than 170 Montana veterans whose leadership, service, and sacrifice exemplify the very best of our state. This recognition is awarded annually. Nominations for 2026 will open on Monday, September 8, 2026. Please note that the page to nominate will not be available until then. Once open, you can access the nomination form and eligibility requirements at https://governor.mt.gov/contact/VeteranCommendation. Nominations for 2026 will close on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 11:59 PM MST.

The 2026 award recipients, will be announced on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2026, will be honored in the new year.

We dedicated Central Park to:
- the staff that made Central School the educational foundation of over 100 years of Roundup youth & the amazing impact these educators made in the lives of their students & in our world.
- all the grantors, donors, and volunteers who made this project possible. Without each of them, this improvement would never have happened!
- and of course to the children of Roundup - may you never forget the importance of play and playfulness regardless of your age!
