Think establishing an endowment requires $25,000 upfront?

It doesn't.

Individuals can begin with an initial gift of $1,000 and commit to building their fund to $25,000 over time. The most important step isn't having everything figured out today, it is deciding that the cause you care about deserves a future. 💫

More than $50 million.

That is the amount the Catholic Community Foundation has distributed to Archdiocesan schools, parishes and ministries since its inception.

Behind that number are donors who chose to think beyond a single gift and build lasting sources of support. This is what legacy looks like in action.

What exactly is an endowment?

An endowment is a permanent investment fund designed to provide ongoing support for a specific Catholic cause.

Instead of simply giving once, your gift becomes part of a long-term strategy designed to support your chosen mission year after year.

That is the difference between giving for today and building for tomorrow.

Catholic Community Foundation endowments create a safety net that ensures the uninterrupted continuation of the work of our parishes, Catholic schools, and ministries.

“This was a chance to put her name on something that’s going to carry on her life’s work.”
- Archie Woodworth, on his family's endowment established in memory of his beloved wife, Marcy.

For Marcella “Marcy” Mandello Woodworth, language opened doors to culture, connection and understanding.

Her love of French began at St. Mary’s School in Annapolis and grew into a lifelong passion for language and the wider world. In her memory, Archie Woodworth established a tuition assistance endowment to support St. Mary’s students who are bilingual or studying a foreign language.

Through this fund, Marcy’s love of language will continue to inspire students for generations.

An endowment allows today's generosity to become a lasting source of support for the parish, school, ministry or Catholic cause that matters most to you.

Labor Day reminds us of the value of hard work, dedication, and perseverance.

Our Catholic faith also reminds us that everything we have is a gift, and we are called to be good stewards of those gifts. Through charitable giving and thoughtful planning, we can use the fruits of our work to create lasting impact for our Church and our communities.

This Labor Day, may we celebrate not only what we accomplish, but how we can use our blessings to serve others. ❤️

When people think about endowments, they often think first of supporting a parish or Catholic school. But an endowment can also provide lasting support for the Catholic ministries and charitable organizations that serve people in need, both in our local communities and around the world.

The Catholic Community Foundation (CCF) currently holds 20 endowment funds dedicated to charitable outreach. Together, these funds have provided more than $670,000 in distributions to advance vital ministries and sustain their work overtime.

These endowments support a wide range of organizations and causes, including Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Our Daily Bread Ministries, The Mortel High Hopes For Haiti Foundation, the Archdiocese of Baltimore's Baltimore Haiti Project, Mercy Medical Center (Baltimore, Maryland), Catholic Relief Services, and Women’s Care Center.

If there is a Catholic ministry whose work has touched your life or reflects the values you hope to carry forward, the Catholic Community Foundation can help you create an endowment that provides reliable support for its mission.

Please reach out to us at 410-547-5461 or [email protected] to learn how.
