Stillwater Library A loud library with lots of character (and characters)... After ten years, they purchased St. When Elizabeth returned after lunch, everyone knew it. How?

The Stillwater Public Library’s mission is to provide educational, informational, and recreational resources to patrons of all ages regardless of cultural or socioeconomic backgrounds. The library is committed to protecting intellectual freedom, promoting lifelong learning, and providing materials and resources that accomplish these objectives. Our goal is to bring a high level of courteous custom

er service to every person who needs it with resourcefulness, discretion, and efficiency. We develop relationships by providing needed information and access to materials, putting the patron first at all times. In 1949, Elizabeth Beiter and Barbara Alexik were designated among others as captains of an important journey. Armed with a love of reading and the desire to share, they solicited book donations, latched onto a few volunteers and set off to institute a library. The library was first located in a one-room cabin in the center of the village of Stillwater, donated by the Van Vranken family. John’s Episcopal Church (originally built in 1874) for $500 and were provisionally named The Stillwater Free Library and Historical Society. Open hours were pretty regular, although Elizabeth did walk down the street to her house for lunch each day. When the library was ready for business, the light over the front door would be turned on, the same as it is today. DID YOU KNOW THE LIBRARY:
Has free downloadable books. Provides access to the internet and desktop computer use for free. Helps patrons with web searches, computer skills, job hunting, resume preparation, and mock interviews. Provides fax, photocopy, print, and inter-library loan services. Works with the community center, Blockhouse museum, and at least 20 other organizations in town. Offers regular programming plus special workshops on crafting, finances, healthcare and more - ALL for FREE!

Cookbook is on for Monday! Can't get enough of a good thing so we're having it twice this month. 🤣

No regular food truck this week!

A little mix up happened, but they have a far more important event - MILITARY LEAVE VISITOR

No worries though. The Lustre Kings are playing inside at the community center in the old gym at 6:30pm. Lots of cleared gym floor for dancing and a full stage so they can really get us moving! Hear a preview on their website: https://www.lustrekings.com/

Juicy Burgers & More will be onsite and ready to serve so join us for dinner, dancing, and great music. You can TOTALLY sit and watch - which may be just the thing if his dancing fans join in the Wednesday fun!

The Stillwater Library Receives a Recycling Container—thanks to local Eagle Scout candidate Thomas Mulderry III.

STILLWATER - Thomas recently presented the library with a six-bin recycling container as part of his Eagle Scout project. Wanting to give back to the community and help the library, Thomas came up with the idea while brainstorming with Jennifer Natyzak, who is involved with the Climate Smart Initiative and is also a member of the Stillwater Library Friends group. Thomas designed the recycling station himself and library staff was delighted by his design when he installed it. Each of the six sections features a lovely carved bird handle, adding a special personal touch to a project that will be used by library patrons for years to come.
Thomas has been a Scout with Troop 35 for more than 10 years. He recently graduated from Stillwater High School as salutatorian and will be attending Rochester Institute of Technology this fall.
The Stillwater Library is grateful to Thomas for choosing to make the library part of his Eagle Scout journey. His hard work, creativity, and commitment to the community have resulted in a project that will benefit the library while encouraging everyone to recycle.
