With the screw worm stopping transports. Now may be a good time to contact the USDA and obtain correct information. Facebook is not the USDA!!
All,
Please read carefully the attached quarantine order issued by the Department regarding the prohibition of importing dogs and cats from any areas where New World Screwworm exists. At this point in time, in the U.S. that includes Texas and New Mexico, meaning no dogs originating from Texas or New Mexico can be transferred, sold, adopted, or fostered until such time as this quarantine is lifted (reference section 3(d) of the attached order).
Privately owned dogs returning with their owners to PA from a quarantine area must follow section 4(d) of the attached order.
Any CVI’s received by the Department originating from Texas or New Mexico or any other quarantine area will be rejected by the PA Department of Agriculture. If the dog(s) already arrived in PA, the Department will cite and require said dog be removed from the Commonwealth.
Thank you for your attention to this matter,
Kristen
