Hachi had his first session and did really well. The trainer said he is incredibly smart and catching on very quickly, so she doesn’t think it will take long to work through the things we’re focusing on.
Right now we’re working on getting him to hold a sit and down with distractions, since he can be reactive toward other animals. We’ve also started practicing getting his attention back on me when he becomes fixated or starts reacting. It’s amazing to watch him learn and figure things out.
We’ve also started feeding all of his meals in his crate. He had begun getting a little hesitant about going in when he realized his foster mom was leaving, but he’s already made huge progress and is happily going in for meals now.
I’m so proud of this boy. He really wants to learn and is trying so hard. His next training session is on the 23rd, and I’m excited to see how much more progress he makes. ❤️🐾

For assisting LAR. I also wanted to give a huge shoutout to Hachi’s trainer. Every time one of my foster dogs goes to her, I pay $100 per session, and it is worth every penny.
She is incredibly fair, knowledgeable, and always willing to help work through behavioral issues with foster dogs. Not only does she help make these dogs more adoptable, but she also helps keep animals in their forever homes after adoption by giving adopters the tools and support they need to succeed.
As a rescue that handles so many animals, having someone like her in our corner is a huge help and something I greatly appreciate. Rescue is a lot for one person to manage alone, and having trusted professionals who genuinely care about these animals makes all the difference.
