It's been a busy week for Tualatin Valley Young Marines. We participated in the Hillsboro 4th of July Parade for the first time post-COVID, and on Saturday a handful of staff and a couple motivated Young Marines showed up to Cook Park in Tigard to assist with the Ladybug Run. This run is a 5K/10K charity race that raises money to increase the chances of babies born with CDH to survive and thrive. CDH (Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia) is a condition when the diaphragm does not close off during development and the abdominal organs migrate into the chest cavity, impeding the development of the heart and lungs.
It was great to start getting out in our community again. Good job Young Marines!!

Young Marine SSgt Sill's Retirement from the Young Marine program October 15, 2022. You haven't seen the last of him, as he'll be continuing as an Adult Volunteer soon. We have a stellar group of Young Marines; excited to see them continue to grow and thrive as youth leaders!

80 years ago was December 7, 1941 — a date which will live in infamy. Youth members of the Young Marines are in Hawaii for Pearl Harbor remembrance events and will lead the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade today. Young Marines personally met some of the remaining WWII survivors and had the opportunity to talk with these American heroes and hear their words of wisdom and encouragement.
