COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The 7th annual Rotary “Run For Mercy” 5K is scheduled for Saturday morning, with registration still open ahead of a price increase after Friday.

The race begins at 8 a.m. at Iron Bank Coffee and runs through downtown Columbus and the Riverwalk. Registration costs $30 before the Friday deadline, after which the price increases to $40.

Proceeds from the event benefit Mercy Med of Columbus, a faith-based clinic, and the three area Rotary clubs. Mercy Med’s mission is to help people be healthy physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

“We rely on amazing supporters to help us do what we do like the Rotary clubs of Columbus, and we’re excited to tell you that Rotary is sponsoring a major event on February 28th,” said Billy Holbrook, chief development officer of Mercy Med.

Mac Cantrell, president of North Columbus Rotary Club, said all three clubs have united around the effort.

“All three Rotary clubs have come together and collaborated and to put forth our effort and energy in raising sponsorships and getting volunteers to help Mercy Med make a huge impact in the community,” Cantrell said. “We’re just honored to be a partner with them.”

Columbus Rotary has operated since 1915 as a gathering place for business leaders to build community relationships while supporting youth programs and service projects.
