FFK has its quarterly meeting Saturday, April 26, 10 a.m., at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. 1101 N. River Blvd.

Here’s the breakdown by alphabet as to what you need to bring for our potluck lunch after the meeting:
A-H fruit or vegetable sides; I-Q main dishes, proteins; R-Z desserts or appetizers

The program: Our program on April 26 will be given by Cathy Grant, founder and executive director, of the Music Youth Partnership Foundation.
Music Youth Partnership is a non-profit foundation designed to place a friend next to every band student. That friend is a professional musician who mentors and encourages them during their entire band experience — and even provides an instrument, if they need one.
Every child deserves someone on their side, and Music Youth Partnership Foundation, provides that someone.

Hope to see a good membership attendance Saturday and where we can enjoy a wonderful lunch together after the meeting!

FFK has two activities coming up. Both can still take interested people, but you need to contact the leaders right away. We have a World Friendship Activity on Thursday, March 13 and a bus trip to Nebraska in June.

Because of several emails and texts coming from people who claim to be one of our members, I am only listing the name of the leaders ...right now. Only on facebook. If you have the emails I sent out earlier on these two events, you can get the contact information. We aren't quite sure how to handle this as these spam emails need to stop. We hope you have a directory so you can call Kathy Smith who is the contact for the World Friendship Day activity and Jolen Satterthwaite who is the contact for the June bus trip. Or check those previous emails from FFK.
If you reply to this post that you want the information, I can have Kathy, Jolene, or me call you to get contact information. So sorry for the inconvenience, but some of our members are getting pummelled with fake emails.

It is with profound sadness that FFI announces the death of President Carter. President Carter passed away today, December 29th, surrounded by his family.

On March 1st, 1977, the newly inaugurated President Carter in support of his long-time friend, Friendship Force founder Wayne Smith, took the monumental step of formally introducing Friendship Force at a White House gathering of State Governors. The two men could not have known how much this decision and the vision behind it would impact world communities in the next 45 years. What began as an experiment has become a global phenomenon, with thousands of people from more than 80 countries having participated as hosts or citizen ambassadors to date.

Post-presidency, Carter continued with his gracious support of the organization for many, many years and the late First Lady Rosalynn Carter served as its Honorary Chairperson until 2002. The Carters attended the International Friendship Force Conference in 2000, in Wisconsin, USA, to celebrate the retirement of Friendship Force's then-president, founder Wayne Smith. President and Rosalynn Carter visited the offices of Friendship Force several times to show their support for the staff who were headquartered there. Despite the Carters officially parting ways with the organization in 2003, their championing of human rights and their core message of peace continues to be upheld by Friendship Force to this day.

We said goodbye to our friends from Kosovo tonight. Sad evening. We really enjoyed getting to know these wonderful people. These are some pics from today's adventure. We went to Marion, KS where we met with Eric Myer, publisher of the Marion County Record and Emily Bradbury of the Kansas Press Association. A documentary group was there recording the whole morning. This is the paper that was raided by law enforcement last year and made the news worldwide. Afterwards, we went to the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge where we "visited" with some bison! We had our farewell dinner tonight. Goodbye, dear friends!
