The Black Dog Arts Coalition is proud to announce the 11th Annual Playwright Festival! January 23rd at The Black Dog Arts Café, Inc.

Join us again — or for the first time — as we learn and embrace writing for the stage. We are looking for one act plays, 5-15 minutes in length, with up to 6 characters, with the option of a narrator to read stage directions.

We ask finished plays/scenes be submitted by January 2nd 2026. This allows for time to put together shows, rehearsals, actors, etc. For simplicity, please send to our BDAC email: [email protected]

For any actors interested in performing, please email as well! The festival date will be January 23rd, 2026.

The plays will be performed Live Reader's Style. This means the actors will be dressed in black, no sets/props, blocking or elaborate lighting. Minimal costume items, such as hats, scarves, or glasses are acceptable.

After thoughtful consideration and reading of the submissions, you will be notified of our selections and the rehearsal schedule. Thank you for entrusting us with your work, we hope to bring it to life!
