Dog Tags New York Help Heal the wounded soldier whose damages are unseen thru therapeutic and meaningful work with animals. With peer support and interaction.

And most importantly, with the support of the community and civilians that partake and engage in our program. Our dogs are not service dogs or therapy dogs, they are shelter dogs that are like the Vets in so many ways. They are stygmatized, misunderstood - not so good thing have happened to them; yet you you could have no greater friend. To quote one of the combat Veterans in the program:
"I like working with these dogs because ther were throw aways just like me"

Welcome these 2 Veterans and their dogs to Dog Tags WNY training sessions!

Elizabeth and Patch, and Nikki and Kasimir. Both ladies are Army Veterans.
They are in the beginner class and doing great. 👍.

We are grateful to Kathleen E. Galbraith and Air Force Veteran Suzanne Laba for their guidance and instruction in these classes.

The reason we are able to provide training sessions to Veterans and their dogs is due to the generosity of folks and businesses that donate to the cause.

THANK YOU!

Day two for us at the 68th Annual Niagara Peach Festival was an absolute blast. The people were great and the weather was perfect. What a great way to end our summer events for 2026.

Congrats to John (Veteran) and his dog Scout for completing a second session of Intermediate training!

Scout has shown some major improvement from the early days of beginner training. She is an active, fun, “full of life” dog that is still a youngster. John’s goal is getting her into Canine Good Citizen class but knows she still has work to do. She definitely was the class clown in training and made everyone smile. 😃

We had a great time at the SSG William “Billy” Wilson III Memorial Ride and Raffle this afternoon.

Say hello to Veteran John and his dog Scout!

They are a well known team to the trainer Kathleen Galbraith and assistant trainer Suzanne Laba (who is also part of Dog Tags and a Veteran) as John started with Scout in beginner class, and then, moved up into intermediate class, and completed. Since Scout is still a young pup, it was recommended to do another intermediate class to continue working on commands, structure and to continue the great bonding between Scout and John.

Thanks to donations to our program, we are able to assist John and Scout with this class, as we have done for other Veterans and their dogs.

It’s been great to watch the progress between this duo. And John and his wife are doing the work at home as well to set Scout up for success.
