CLC Policy Attorney Ann Quirk testified in favor of AB 2478, a bill Authored by Assemblymembers Schultz and Solache. AB 2478 will create a new Kinship Family Approval (KFA) process to make it easier for kin to become foster caregivers. It reduces barriers in the current system so more children can be placed with people they already know and trust.
As shared by Ann in her powerful testimony, “when a child can’t be at home, get them with the people they know and love as quickly as possible so they can both be safe, and feel safe.”
Thank you to Assemblymembers Schultz and Solache for understanding that every child deserves a safe place to land, and the comfort of being with someone who feels like home.
Co-sponsors for AB 2478 include Alliance for Children’s Rights (ACR), Children’s Legal Services of San Diego (CLS), and County Welfare Directors Association of CA (CWDA)
