DID YOU KNOW….

We pay pull fees when we take animals from the shelter? Pull fees help cover what the shelter did for that animal while they were in their care, and range pricewise shelter to shelter. Sometimes the fees are waived, paid for by someone else, or we pay for it. Today, we saved seven puppies and paid $350 ($50/ puppy) in pull fees. Are you interested in sponsoring one of these puppies and covering their fee? We’ll add a list of ways you can! Even $5 goes a long way and helps!

These guys will be ready for adoption in a few weeks once they clear their quarantine period and are vetted.

BARN CATS!!

We are looking for a barn home for Stu (female) and Flapjack (male). Both have been fixed and vaccinated. We’ve tried to socialize them and while they aren’t extremely feral, we don’t feel they’re social enough to live in a home unless someone is very patient with them.

📢 PSA: THE ANIMAL RESCUE WORLD IS DROWNING. 📢

Dauntless was created to help save animals facing euthanasia in local shelters. That is our mission. But every single day, we receive an overwhelming number of requests to take owner surrenders, found strays, unexpected litters, and animals people need temporarily housed.

With the holidays approaching, we know it’s only going to get worse.

WE CANNOT TAKE THEM ALL.

We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue. We don’t have endless foster homes, unlimited funds, or a building full of kennels. We have people sacrificing their time, homes, money, sleep, and emotional well-being to save lives.

🐾 Struggling financially? There are pet food pantries, low-cost spay/neuter programs, and organizations that may help with certain expenses. We will gladly share resources when we can. We’d rather help you keep your pet than see you surrender them.

🐾 Found a stray? Follow your county’s required stray-hold procedures. Contact local animal control or the shelter. Don’t assume a found animal is unwanted or hand it off to someone you think would make a good home. That animal may have a family desperately searching for them.

🐾 Need temporary boarding? We are not a boarding facility. Our foster homes and donations are reserved for animals who need rescue, medical care, and a chance at life.

And please understand this: WE ARE NOT THE ENEMY WHEN WE SAY NO.

Behind every rescue are real people already stretched beyond their limits. People managing medical emergencies, paying bills, caring for animals around the clock, and grieving the ones they couldn’t save.

We didn’t create the overpopulation crisis, and we cannot solve it alone.

When we say we are full, we mean it. When we say we cannot help, it doesn’t mean we don’t care. Caring doesn’t magically create more space, money, or foster homes.

Rescue cannot continue running on guilt, exhaustion, and the expectation that someone else will always step up.

Please spay and neuter your pets. Foster. Adopt. Donate. Volunteer. Share adoptable animals. Plan responsibly for the pets you bring into your life.

We are begging people to be part of the solution.

Meet Zakk Wylde! This sweet 2 year old Maine c**n mix is looking for his forever home! Zakk was originally rescued by a local TNR group this spring who noticed he was much too friendly to return to his trapping location. We stepped in and accepted Zakk into Dauntless. Since being with us, Zakk has come out of his shell. He loves wet food and head pets. He will rub all over you to get your attention. Zakk does well with other cats but is pretty afraid of dogs so would do best in a home without them. He’s a big guy with a lot of love!

Sadie is still looking for her forever family! She is a 10 month old lab mix. Sadie originally came to us as a young puppy after being found hiding under a car. She was adopted, but unfortunately returned to us due to no fault of her own. She is initially timid around new people, but warms up quickly once she knows shes safe. Because of her shy personality, small, quick people (aka toddlers) scare her. She would do best in a home with kids 10+ years old.

Sadie absolutely loves furry friends and would love to join a family with another doggy to play with. Shes currently being fostered in a home with cats, who she also tries to play with, so dog friendly cats are a must if any feline friends are in the home.

While Sadie is almost considered an “adult” because of her age, she’s still very much a puppy at heart. She has tons of energy and would do best in an active home.

Sadie is housebroken and crate trained. She loves going on walks and being outside, then snuggling up with her humans.

7 cats found their forever homes this weekend! We couldn’t be happier for these babies and their new families.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by, adopted, donated, and supported. We’re so grateful to have such an amazing community supporting a cause so close to our hearts. 🐾

315 days. That’s how long Rose sat overlooked. Until today. We are SO happy to announce….

ROSE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!!!

This wonderful couple has loads of experience with leash reactive dogs, and after recently losing their precious baby, they knew they wanted to save another dog that was continuously being overlooked. Someone shared our post to a local Wilmington page, where they saw Rose, and knew she was meant to be theirs!! This shows how something that costs nothing, other than a click of the share button, can literally save lives!!

Today we celebrate Rose and thank whoever it was that shared our post that got her into her perfect forever home!
