Many of you you may already know that we recently lost a true Ocean City icon. Lieutenant Ward Kovacs of the Ocean City Beach Patrol passed away a few days ago. Ward dedicated his life to protecting others. He had a steady presence, a watchful eye and a heart committed to keeping people safe. He gave people peace of mind everyday, often without recogntion, and that matters more than words can express. He was instrumental in bringing the Ocean City surfing community and the Ocean City Beach Patrol together in a more harmonious relationship we enjoy today. The posiitve impact he had on our community will never be forgotten.

Please see the attachment containing the Final Arrangements for Ward Kovacs. Join us as we pay respect to an amazing man and a pillar of our community.

The Ocean City Surf Club will host a traditional Hawaiian Surfer’s Memorial Paddle Out sometime in early summer to honor Ward. We will let everyone know once we set a date and time.

The Ocean City Surf Club sends it's condolences and prayers to Ward Kovacs family and friends. Many of our members, sponsors and volunteers knew Ward well and had a great deal of respect and admiration for him. He was instrumental in bringing the Ocean City surfing community and the Ocean City Beach Patrol together in a more harmonious relationship we enjoy today. Our organization had the pleasure of working with Ward on several programs we offer and his positive influence on children was incredible. He will be missed by so many people. The Ocean City Surf Club will host a traditional Hawaiian surfer's Memorial Paddle Out sometime in early summer to honor him. We will always remember Ward.

The Ocean City Surf Club recently hosted the Salisbury University Zeta Tau Alpha sorority beach and street clean up in downtown Ocean City. The girls cleaned up trash for 5 hours from the OC Inlet to the end of the boardwalk on 28th street. They demonstrated responsibility, compassion and pride in their community. It's inspiring to see a group come together with such purpose and enthusiasm! To Thank them -- the Ocean City Surf Club will offer them some surf lessons once the ocean warms up. Mahalo to the SU Zeta Tau Alpha sorority!
