Topeka Doula Project Providing education, support, and guidance during pregnancy, labor & birth, and the postpartum period

A Topeka area nonprofit offering volunteer doula support to teen mothers, incarcerated mothers, and low-income single mothers. We serve pregnant women through prenatal education, continuous labor support, and sustained postpartum community connection. Our goals are to provide pregnancy and childbirth education that entrusts mothers to make informed decisions about their care, to empower moms to make healthy decisions for the well-being of themselves and their children, and to improve the mother’s birth experience. I consider myself a full-spectrum doula; someone who brings the doula model of care to people across the full spectrum of pregnancy experiences, including abortion, adoption, surrogacy, miscarriage, and stillbirth. I offer nonjudgmental support during these times to help women processing the experience and move forward.

Bring those babies out tonight and let’s chat postpartum care 🩷

Discovery Baby is TOMORROW October 13, at 5:30 p.m. at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center in Gage Park.

Join Abriona Markham, Doula with the Topeka Doula Project, to learn more about the postpartum period and discover helpful local resources to support you along the way. The months after welcoming a new baby bring ongoing changes, new emotions, and plenty of questions as your little one grows. Whether you’re in the early weeks or several months in,

Discovery Baby is a free, fun program to introduce babies and their caregivers to a world of learning and play!

This free program is open to caregivers with a child under 12 months old. Only babies and caregivers may attend. The museum is closed to the general public during Discovery Baby workshops. No advance registration or sign-up is required and caregivers are welcome to drop in.

We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate our executive director receiving the Public Health Champion Award! 🏆

This recognition truly embodies our core belief that public health is actively listening to our community. Every program The TopekaDoula Project puts forth is born from listening to the voices of the community members we have helped and heard along the way. We look forward to continuing this vital work.

Congratulations, Abriona!

We asked Doula Naves about Community and she said:

"The joy and resilience are a consistent source of energy for me. They're what keeps putting a little pep back in my walk and reminding me why I continue to choose community, over and over again. it's why I continue to carry hope in my heart of hearts."

To Naves, thank you so much for the time and effort you put into the community.
