GRRR Georgia Rescue, Rehabilitation & Relocation GRRR Rescue provides senior, neglected, and medically fragile dogs and cats a second chance at love and life. Visit grrrsavesdogs.org.

Follow us for heartwarming arrivals, foster stories, and pets waiting for homes. Founded in 2011, GRRR is a small 501(c)(3) rescue organization that serves Savannah, Georgia and the surrounding counties. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats from owners who are no longer able to care for them, from public shelters without a “no-kill” policy, and from situations where they have suffered abuse or neglect. We are committed to helping both the most needy and the more readily adoptable animals in our community. All donations made are tax deductible, and every dollar goes directly to the care of our animals. All of our rescues are spayed or neutered, receive proper veterinary treatment, and are placed in loving foster homes while awaiting adoption. Yesterday, our hearts broke as we said goodbye to sweet Louie, who passed away from heart failure. When he arrived in July, an intake exam with Dr. Serina revealed a multitude of health challenges. We immediately got to work to make his life as comfortable and long as possible. Along the way, we discovered a beautiful, deaf senior dog whose tail was always wagging and who had a smile on his face no matter what.

Losing seniors is a familiar path for us, but Louie’s difficult ending has hit us incredibly hard. Words can't capture the joy he brought to our rescue, but the memories of his happy face and kindness will fill our hearts forever.

Thank you, Louie, for being part of our lives, even for a short time. You crossed the rainbow bridge knowing you were deeply loved. Run free, little man.

Go Team GRRR! Greta left Chatham County Shelter today and is now settling into a loving foster home. This sweet senior’s next chapter starts with comfort, kindness, and the care she needs.

Next stop: Dr. Tony at Elite tomorrow to evaluate her mammary tumors and make a plan for treatment. We’re grateful to her foster mom for opening her home and helping us give Greta this chance. We’ll keep you posted!

Meet two-year-old Raven with GRRR! Raven may be petite, but her heart is enormous. This beautiful Bull Terrier mix is playful, affectionate, and happiest beside the people she trusts. Whether she’s enjoying a truck ride, joining an adventure, or relaxing by your side, Raven loves being part of the family.

She’s potty trained, walks nicely on leash, and knows sit, lie down, stay, and high five! Raven is no stranger to activity. she wants to play, spend time with her people, and soak up some love.

Raven may be a good match for a home with children, another dog, or possibly even a cat with thoughtful introductions. Above all, she needs a family who will include her and give her the safe, loving home she deserves.

Our local county shelter has asked GRRR to rescue Greta, a senior dog with mammary tumors who needs medical attention as soon as possible.

We need a foster home within the next 24 hours so we can bring her into our care and arrange treatment with our veterinary partners.

Her foster home must be in the Savannah metro area, within driving distance of our veterinary partners.

If you follow GRRR Georgia Rescue, you’ve probably noticed our mission isn’t about numbers, it’s about the quality of care we provide every animal we rescue.

County shelters reach out to us knowing we’ll provide thorough medical care, whether an animal needs help restoring its health or managing a chronic condition. It isn’t cheap, but giving them the best chance at a healthy, happy life is worth it.

Such is the case with 10-year-old Elsa. Some might ask, “Why spay a dog at her age?” A veterinarian’s evaluation helps determine whether surgery is appropriate, and spaying prevents pyometra, a potentially deadly infection of the uterus.

Today, we celebrate Elsa’s spay surgery, bloodwork, and dental care, all important steps toward helping her enjoy her remaining years healthy, comfortable, and loved.

Mr. Peanut checked in this morning with his favorite vets at Elite for surgery to remove a small, hard mass and to be neutered. He thought his boyish good looks and sloppy wet kisses might charm him out of it, but his best efforts couldn’t change today’s plans!

Perry with GRRR drove down to Liberty County Animal Services today and rescued six-year-old McCormick! He believed this sweet boy deserved to spend tonight in a warm bed in a loving GRRR foster home and that’s exactly where he’ll be. Not just any home, either, but the incredible home of Louise, our foster mom extraordinaire!

After McCormick has a little time to decompress and we’ve had the chance to get to know him, we’ll begin searching for a fantastic, fabulous forever home for this 28-pound bundle of joy!

Stay tuned… his next chapter is just beginning!
