The Kodály Center at Redlands The Kodály Center found a new home with the University of Redlands in August 2023, upon the closing of Holy Names University, Oakland, CA.

The philosophy and pedagogy of Zoltán Kodály will continue with Hungarian, American and international faculty. Located across the bay from San Francisco, the Kodály Center for Music Education is located on the campus of Holy Names University. Holy Names offers a MMus in music education with small classes, personalized training and internationally renowned faculty from the US and Hungary. In additi

on to the MMus, Holy Names also offers an annual Summer Institute that provides intensive teacher training over the span of three weeks with faculty from Hungary, the US and Australia.

Dr. Thomas Kite, President of the Kodály Foundation for Music Education, presented a session titled: "Canons: A Pathway to Mastering Harmony" at the 2025 OAKE Western Division Mini-Conference held at Metropolitan State University of Denver this past weekend.

Gemma Arguelles presented "Elevate students' musical knowledge: reading and writing activities for early grades" at the 2025 OAKE Western Division Mini-Conference at Metropolitan State University of Denver last weekend.

Gemma is highly regarded for her pedagogical skill in the elementary classroom and choral rehearsal. She also teaches on faculty with the Kodály Summer at Redlands program.

OAKE Western Division is planning its 5th regional Mini-Conference, slated for the weekend of November 7 - 9, 2025 in Denver, Colorado. Currently we are seeking a variety of session proposals for all age groups and topics - including showcasing local students in demonstration lessons and student performances. Conference registration will open in August.
