The Ocean Diplomacy Lab at the Thunderbird School of Global Management is preparing leaders to unite nations, industries and communities in support of a healthy, sustainable ocean.

Supported by the O’Dowd Postdoctoral Fellowship established by Thunderbird alum Joe O’Dowd and Diana Maria O’Dowd, this work is helping bridge research, policy and global collaboration.

Decades of continuous observations from the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences, part of ASU, have built one of the North Atlantic’s most important data records.

Restoring a reef takes research, care and community. 🌱

In West Hawaiʻi, Arizona State University’s partnership with the ʻĀkoʻakoʻa Reef Restoration program is helping coral ecosystems recover and thrive through cultural leadership, multimodal education, scientific intervention and government partnerships.

Now, the team is preparing for coral spawning by rehabilitating rescued colonies in a land-based nursery so they can return home stronger and ready to rebuild their reefs.
