There are people who work on the election and those who talk about it.

“Cut to the current election. We had heard allegations that Trump kept Hi**er’s speeches by his bedside, but somehow we normalised that.
‘We didn’t take him seriously because of all the outrageous, clownish acts and gaffes we thought would cause him to drop out of the race.
‘Except these gaffes were designed to distract. This was his secret strategy, the essence of his success — you can’t take a stand against Trump because you don’t know where Trump is standing.’”

Monday’s Supreme Court’s decision granting presidents immunity is a dark day for American democracy. The clearly politicized majority has transformed America into one where the president is free from the rule of law in all their “official” capacities.
The Supreme Court's landmark decision on former President Trump's immunity from some legal prosecution has the potential to transform the powers of the presi...

From Brennan Center on the supreme court’s delay of the Trump immunity case (after this I will stop feeding info to FB AI):
Chief Justice Roberts indicated that the Supreme Court will announce its ruling in Trump’s presidential immunity case tomorrow morning — more than two months after it heard arguments. The Court’s delay in rendering a decision is striking. The only time the Court pushed decisions to July in recent history was during the uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Every day the justices held their decision further delayed Trump’s federal January 6 trial, making it less and less likely voters will know whether a presidential candidate is guilty of crimes against our democracy before Election Day.
Trump’s bid to stop the peaceful transfer of power was a dark day in American history. Voters have a right to know if they are being asked to elect a president who is guilty of serious crimes against democracy itself.
Earlier this year, we filed a friend-of-the-court brief representing 15 top historians of the founding era. The brief made clear that presidents have been subject to criminal prosecution since the beginning of our history. This principle has been reaffirmed repeatedly.
While Trump urged his supporters to “stop the steal,” the Supreme Court decided to start the stall. It has done immense damage to our democracy simply by pushing back the timeline for a trial.
It’s time to restore legitimacy to the Court. Will you help the Brennan Center fight for Supreme Court reform?

“A Supreme Obstruction of Justice:
Despite the historic circumstances and intense scrutiny, former President Trump’s New York trial unfolded remarkably smoothly and efficiently — a sharp contrast to the snarls and delays plaguing the other prosecutions he’s facing. Most egregiously, the Supreme Court continues to drag its heels on the question of presidential immunity, making it unlikely that Trump will face a federal jury before the election. Regardless of how they decide the immunity case, the justices’ stalling is already one of the most outrageous political interventions in history.”
New York ran a fair and efficient trial while SCOTUS stalls.

Wow apparently Wisconsin slept on this one and voted them both in.
No matter our race, background or zip code, Wisconsinites know that voting is a fundamental right yet a handful of politicians want to limit funding for our elections without any plan to make sure election administrators have the support and supplies they need to help voters make their voices heard....

“High intensity conflicts require and consume vast quantities of fuel, leading to massive CO2 emissions and contributing to climate change.” Why do we always hear about war and much more rarely about the tools of peace?
Ever wondered what the environmental impacts of war are? Read our guide to the many different ways through which armed conflicts and militarism can damage the environment.

Democracy is active - not a spectator sport.
The Democracy Reform Ranking Project is a live event/meeting tour coupled with a democracy reform survey tool to engage people about reforms they believe would most improve our democracy.
We are in a number of crises: an economic crisis, an ecological crisis, and an equality crisis rooted in perceptions that divide us and keep us from peace and health. We are in a democracy crisis wherein our current national institutions of government and representation are not working.
The Democracy Reform Ranking Project survey and forums engage people at a time they are discouraged and kept out of the system. It asks people to participate where they are at, instead of where they need or wish to be. The DRRP focus on respondents’ priorities promises to improve engagement and mobilization by starting with where people are now, not where we want them to be.
DRRP discussion groups and community-based interactions help people to raise their awareness of what is or is not happening, what works and what doesn’t, at a time when reality itself is being treated like a game show in which we get to vote on whatever we choose to believe and declare that to be the new reality.
The bottom line is: democracy is active; it’s not a spectator sport. People need to participate for it to function.
