Some neighborhoods hand out candy. The Shallows hands out free healthcare. 🎃🐊

For the second year in a row, our friends in The Shallows are turning their street into Halloween headquarters, and every dollar raised benefits Point Washington Medical Clinic.

SHALLOWEEN 2026
📅 Saturday, October 24 · 6:00–10:00 p.m.
📍 161 & 185 East Shallows Dr.

🎸 Live music by The Tanner Gray Band
👻 Costume contest
🍔 Food and drinks available for purchase
👶 Kids welcome, so bring the whole crew

Suggested donation: $10 per child, $25 per adult. Give through the QR code on the flyer, or by Venmo or cash at the entrance.

We can't say enough about what this means. This isn't a gala or a golf tournament. It's a neighborhood that decided its Halloween party should also make sure a neighbor without insurance can see a doctor. A $25 donation at the gate helps keep a clinic visit free for someone who has nowhere else to go.

To everyone in The Shallows who's hosting, decorating, cooking, and cleaning up afterward: thank you. You're proof that community care can look a lot like a really good party. 💙

Parking note: Please park along Dick Saltsman and don't block driveways. Let's be good guests!

Dust off the costume. We'll see you there. 🦇

🚐 Big news for rural health care in our community!

Point Washington Medical Clinic is proud to be one of 15 healthcare partners in the federal Rural Health Transformation Program, a substantial, five-year grant to the consortium that brings care directly to people in rural parts of our region.

For many of our rural neighbors, seeing a doctor has meant a drive of an hour or more. Through this grant, PWMC will add two mobile units alongside our current Mobile Medical Unit, bringing nearly all the services available at our clinic directly to the patients who need them.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible, including State Rep. Shane Abbott and our fellow partner organizations across Northwest Florida. 💙

WELLNESS WEDNESDAY: Thank you, emergency nurses. 💙

Today is Emergency Nurses Day. Steady hands at 3 a.m., on the worst night of someone's life, for whoever comes through the door. Thank you—including the ER nurses who volunteer with us between shifts.

The best way to honor them? Know where to go.

🚨 911 / ER: chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke signs (BE FAST: Balance, Eyes, Face, Arm, Speech, Time to call 911), severe bleeding or injury, sudden worst-ever headache. If it might be an emergency, treat it like one. The ER must treat you, insurance or not.

🩺 Your clinic: diabetes and blood pressure care, refills, colds and minor illness, checkups, and the things you've been putting off.

91% of our patients' visits kept them out of the ER in 2025—and kept ER beds open for real emergencies.

PWMC: a no-fee-for-service, walk-in clinic serving all ages, Mon–Thurs. 1321 N Hwy 395.

ER nurses—want a slower-paced shift? Volunteer with us!

📍 NEW LOCATION FOR OUR MOBILE MEDICAL TEAM TOMORROW: We will be at Everlasting Word Church in DeFuniak Springs.

The DeFuniak Springs Community Center is being used by the National Guard for hurricane relief, so tomorrow our Mobile Medical Unit is setting up just down the road:

🚐 Everlasting Word Church 📍 2132 US-90, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433 📅 Thursday, October 15 · 10 am to 2 pm

Same as always: free, no insurance needed, and no one turned away. Distance, gas money, and a missed shift shouldn't stand between anyone and a doctor. That's why PWMC goes where our neighbors are.

Our partners in care, Caring & Sharing of South Walton, will be right there with us, helping connect families with community resources. One stop, more than one kind of help.

Thank you to Everlasting Word Church for opening your doors on short notice, and to the National Guard for the work you're doing for our neighbors this week. 💙

Please share this with anyone who usually finds us at the community center, so no one goes to the wrong place.

Not every breast cancer story ends with "cancer-free." 💚🩵🩷

Today, October 13, is Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

Metastatic (stage IV) breast cancer has spread beyond the breast. It can be treated—sometimes for years—but it can't yet be cured. People living with it don't finish treatment. They live with it.

💚 About 170,000 women in the U.S. are living with MBC. 🩵 Some are diagnosed at stage IV from the start; others see it return years after early-stage treatment. It's not anyone's fault. 🩷 Breast cancer takes roughly 117 American lives a day—nearly all from metastatic disease.

Love someone with MBC? Tell them you see them. Ask how they're really doing. Bring dinner on scan week.

And if something has changed and you've been waiting until you can afford to get it checked, don't wait. PWMC is no-fee-for-service, walk-in clinic and is open to all ages, Mon–Thurs. 1321 N Hwy 395. 💙

CLINIC CLOSED TODAY 🌀

Point Washington Medical Clinic is closed today, Monday, October 12, while our team cleans up after Hurricane Isaias. We’re grateful our clinic family made it through the storm safely, and we’re thinking of every neighbor who is still recovering.

If you have a medical emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. We’ll post an update as soon as we know when we’ll reopen. Please stay safe and take care around downed lines and debris. 💙

You don't have to have the right words. You just have to start. 💚

Today is World Mental Health Day. This year's theme: "Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change."

1 in 8 people worldwide live with a mental health condition. Often, it's someone who looks completely fine.

In our exam rooms, the real reason someone came in often surfaces only when we ask, "How are you doing—really?"

💚 Carrying something? "I haven't felt like myself lately" is enough to start. PWMC is a no-fee-for-service, walk-in clinic serving all ages, Mon–Thurs. We'll listen—and with our mental health partners at , we'll help you find what comes next.

💚 Worried about someone? Ask. Then listen more than you talk.

In crisis? Call or text 988, free, 24/7. Español: llame al 988 y oprima el 2.

Your story matters. 💙

Tomorrow's the day! ⛳

The 3rd Annual Knights of Columbus Charity Golf Tournament tees off tomorrow at The Links at Sandestin, and we couldn't be more grateful to the men of Knights of Columbus St. Joseph the Workman Council 17689 at Saint Rita Catholic Church for making it happen.

Golfers, here's your game plan for Monday, October 12:
🕗 8:00 a.m. Range opens
📝 8:15 a.m. Registration opens, and mulligans and raffle tickets go on sale
☕ 9:00 a.m. Coffee and donuts
⛳ 10:00 a.m. Sh***un start
🏆 3:30 p.m. Awards and drawings

Complimentary food stations and beverage carts will be out on the course, so come hungry. And grab a few mulligans at registration. Every one of them supports a good cause (and maybe your scorecard).

Not playing? You can still be part of it. The online silent auction is live now through October 14. Browse the packages and place a bid at golfkoc.com.

Every dollar raised supports three local mission partners: Point Washington Medical Clinic, Healing Paws for Warriors, and Caring & Sharing. For PWMC, that means free care for neighbors who have nowhere else to go.

To the Knights, the sponsors, the volunteers, and every golfer teeing it up Monday: thank you. Hit 'em straight! 💙

Join us on April 27, 2024 for the 1st Annual Knights of Columbus Charity Golf Tournament at the Links of Sandestin! Hosted by the Saint Rita Council in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, all proceeds from the event will benefit local charities.

WELLNESS WEDNESDAY & WORLD SIGHT DAY: Half of all vision loss didn't have to happen. 👁️

At least 2.2 billion people worldwide live with vision impairment. About 1 billion of those cases could have been prevented—or simply haven't been treated yet.

The quiet threats to your sight:
👁️ Diabetes—no early symptoms. Get a dilated eye exam every year.
👁️ Glaucoma—steals side vision slowly, often unnoticed.
👁️ High blood pressure—damages the vessels in the back of the eye.
👁️ Florida sun—UV raises cataract risk. Wear sunglasses. Every day.

Protecting your eyes starts with everyday care: check and manage blood sugar and blood pressure.

PWMC—a no-fee-for-service, walk-in clinic treating all ages, Mon–Thurs. 1321 N Hwy 395. No insurance, no fees, no one turned away. 💙
