We are excited to announce that we are officially hiring for the role of Educational Advocate!

An Educational Advocate works one-on-one with and on behalf of families and students to support and promote the rights and needs of children, youth, and young adults with disabilities to ensure they receive the accommodations, supports, and services they are entitled to under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

I thoroughly enjoyed this presentation about the making of this exhibit about what it means to be included. The exhibit will remain at Willard for the next couple weeks. …And transportation remains one of the most common reasons that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are excluded from community.

What did the automobile make possible for Black women? Join Sonya Bernard-Hollins and the Merze Tate Explorers tomorrow evening, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. in the downtown programming room for a historic journey in "Driving Through History: Black Women, Cars, and Courage."

Yesterday we got to welcome the Adult Transition Program (ATP) and show students around The Arc as well as introduce them to the programs and supports that we offer. For those who do not know, the ATP program is offered through the Calhoun Intermediate School District and is for students who have completed their K-12 education, are on course to receive a certificate of completion, and require additional time to gain skills leading to enhanced independence and gainful employment. They provide employment skills training through Work Based Learning and/or Volunteerism in collaboration with local businesses and organizations, such as us!

It 's always exciting to meet the next generation of individuals who will become self advocates and leaders in the community!

Today is the day! We hope to see everyone there!

The Self-Advocates of Calhoun County along with the support of Disability Rights Michigan, E3 Achievement, CIR Community Inclusive Recreation, and The Arc are excited to host "Our Vote Matters!" This important free event is for anyone interested in voting accommodation and resource which ensure that everyone's voice is heard and vote counted!

This is a drop in event so come anytime between 1:00pm and 4:00pm to learn what Voter Assist Terminal's are and receive hands on practice using them. Those in attendance will have a chance to speak with the Advocates, discuss issues and candidates, and ask questions. You will leave feeling confident and ready to cast your ballot and be apart of change

For us, The Annual Event is a true celebration of the hard work and dedication our participants put in every single day. It’s a space where those we serve can come together with supporters and community members to reflect on a year of progress and inclusion. Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude after such an amazing night.

The Arc's 2026 Annual Event- Illuminate Inclusion was a success and there are so many people and businesses we want to say thank you to. Unfortunately, Facebook limits us. So for now, to all who joined us in person or in spirit, donated, bid on silent auction items, bought 50/50 tickets, volunteered your time and talents, or supported us, thank you. Truly and genuinely from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. We are so grateful for your support, your energy, your enthusiasm, and your presence. It is you who made the evening unforgettable and inspired many. We hope you enjoyed the celebration and left feeling connected to a mission that brings us all together.

Voter Education Event to be rescheduled!

We are sorry to announce that, due to unexpected reasons, the Bureau of Elections is unable to bring the Voter Assist Terminals (VATs). Because these are a key element of our event, we will be rescheduling the event for a later date as soon as that date is given to us!
