Our mission is to provide, facilitate and empower those who are disadvantage and or have substantial impairment which limit them from maintaining an independent living arrangement.

"The Canes Keep Rolling!"

On Wednesday 29th July it was a delight for me to once again catch up with Mr. Moaz Kahn who is the President of Vision Without Barriers, and also Charlotte Simpson who is an experienced Orientation & Mobility Instructor and Low Vision Therapist (in Austin Texas, USA), where we discussed the all-important questions around mobility and the white cane, and white cane techniques for beginners.

And for the vision impaired community in Sri Lanka the result of this meeting was nothing short of incredible, because having seen the impact that their previous donation of 50 rolling tip white canes (which are designed specifically to suit rough and unpredictable surfaces like those that are common in Sri Lanka), had on our vision impaired community in Sri Lanka (back in 2025), the team at Vision Without Barriers has once again decided to donate a further 100 white canes!

And I couldn’t be more grateful or thrilled, because this is a huge thing for the blind community in our country, and it highlights how amazing this international organization (Vision Without Barriers) is, as they once again step forward to support and uplift our people, and fill a gap that the local system has long overlooked.

Thank you again to Moaz and his team for supporting the work that we are doing to empower the vision impaired in Sri Lanka - we will be eternally grateful for all that you have given!

It will be a pleasure to return to University of Management and Technology - UMT for the 2nd International Conference on Future-Ready Universities 2026.

I look forward to moderating a timely panel on “AI & Education: Navigating Challenges, Unlocking Opportunities”

It is a conversation that goes beyond technology to reflect on how universities must evolve to develop judgment, character, and lifelong learning capabilities in our students.

Grateful to be joined by an excellent panel of colleagues and leaders. I look forward to a rich and forward-looking discussion.
