Happy Birthday to our Fundraising Co-Chair, Travis Hesson! 🎉

From supporting entertainers and vendors across the Renaissance community to helping lead RESCU events behind the scenes, Travis brings passion, heart, and serious tech wizardry to everything he does. He keeps things running smoothly while helping us spread the message of supporting the Health of the Company far and wide.

Since first attending the Bristol RESCU Rally in 2017, Travis has become an incredible advocate for RESCU through volunteering, fundraising, and sharing our mission with the community he calls home at Ohio Renaissance Festival.

We are so grateful for all the energy, dedication, and enthusiasm he brings to RESCU every day. Please join us in wishing Travis the happiest of birthdays! 🎂💙

Happy Birthday to our incredible Secretary, Linda Ballard! 🎉🎂

Linda has been a vital part of the RESCU Foundation family since joining our Board in 2011 after already dedicating years of service at rallies for the SoCal Renaissance Faire. Since then, she has worn countless hats for RESCU, serving not only as Secretary, but also as a steady source of compassion, organization, and support for our community.

Born and raised in Seneca Falls, NY, Linda’s path has taken her from journalism and photography to groundbreaking neurodevelopmental research at UCLA. Along the way, she built an incredible career rooted in both science and storytelling.

At the SoCal Renaissance Faire, Linda is the beloved Director of Kids’ Kingdom, where she helps create magical experiences for children through plays, crafts, and games alongside a dedicated troupe of volunteers.

And yes — if you spend enough time around her, you’ll probably hear about the Buffalo Bills, embroidery projects, hiking adventures, or amazing culinary creations she and Bruce are working on. ❤️💙

Like all of our Board members, Linda gives her time to RESCU as a volunteer, and we are endlessly grateful for the heart, energy, and care she pours into this community year after year.

Please join us in wishing Linda the happiest of birthdays! 🎈✨

Most people want to help when someone is struggling — they just don’t know what to say.

That’s why RESCU offers QPR Su***de Prevention Trainings year-round as part of our educational programming.

QPR (Question. Persuade. Refer.) gives everyday people practical tools to:

✔️ recognize warning signs

✔️ check in with someone who may be struggling

✔️ listen with empathy

✔️ connect them to additional support

Our instructors train festival participants across the country, strengthening the peer support networks that help keep our community safe.

💚 Looking for a training?

Check your festival’s RESCU calendar of events to see if QPR is being offered where you work.

💚 Want to help teach life-saving skills?

We welcome volunteers who are passionate about community care.

Mental health is physical health. Whether it’s finding ways to be active, connecting with your community, or remembering to drink water, small wins matter.

At the RESCU Foundation, we support our community by providing access to health & wellness resources, educational programming, advocacy, and financial support — because caring for each other’s mental and physical wellbeing helps create safer, stronger spaces for everyone.

We’re grateful to share that the RESCU Foundation has received a grant from the American Humanist Association.

Thanks to this support, we’ve been able to put even more free health and medical supplies directly into the hands of the festival communities we serve.

This work only happens because people believe in taking care of each other and we’re thankful to have partners who help make that possible.

Every program we offer.
Every training we host.
Every life-saving resource we put into the hands of our community…

…is guided by a board that serves 100% as volunteers.

The RESCU Foundation Board of Directors donates their time, expertise, and heart to help keep festival communities safer, healthier, and supported, not because they have to, but because they believe in this work.

We’re proud to be an organization powered by people who show up, step up, and serve.

Thank you to the humans behind the mission. ❤️

The RESCU Foundation provides NARCAN trainings, overdose response education, and harm-reduction resources, including NARCAN and fentanyl test strip giveaways, at Renaissance and historically themed festivals across the country.

Our programs are designed specifically for the people who keep these events running: performers, vendors, staff, and volunteers. By equipping festival participants with life-saving knowledge and tools, we help strengthen safety, preparedness, and community care behind the scenes.

Together, we’re building safer festival environments through education, compassion, and mutual responsibility.

Did you know RESCU provides hands-on training to festival participants?

Emergencies can happen anywhere, especially in busy festival environments. Every second matters in those moments and having people around who can respond quickly can save a life.

In stop the bleed classes, participants learn how to recognize emergencies and provide help until professional care can arrive. Hands-on trainings can can not only make a world of difference in an unexpected situation, but also supports the health and safety of participants and guest alike.

If you are a participant that would like to learn how to stop the bleed, look for flyers at your local festival. RESCU offers access to preventative care and safety education like this at many festivals across the country and is only growing. Remember, education and preparedness saves lives.

❤️ Support the People Behind the Magic ☕

Renaissance Faires and historical events are built by passionate performers, artisans, vendors, and staff, and the RESCU Foundation exists to support their health and medical well-being.

Our mission is to promote and maintain the health and safety of festival participants through financial assistance, advocacy, education, and preventative programs.

You can help us continue that work through our Coffee for a Cause fundraiser. Every purchase directly supports programs that care for the communities who make these events possible.

👉 Join the fundraiser here:
